f***ing neighbours

My neighbours bin was collected today emptied and left beside where I normally park. Needless to say they didnt bother to bring the bin in. Its just blown over in the wind and scratched the front of my recently sprayed new front bumper Big Cry Big Cry making a pipe bomb as I speak..... Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Interesting from the liability point of view. Did the binmen put the bin back in exactly the same place? Previously..

I had a word with my bin-men once because they'd leave the FIVE brown garden bins smack bang in the middle of the driveway, therefore when I came home I had to stop in the road while I moved them, which made my stationary car a dangerous obstacle (we get a lot of fast moving tractors!)

Oddly they took note and have never done it again!

Sorry to hear about your scratch Conor, maybe a gentle word with the Neighbour, failing that complain to the council? Discovery 4 HSE

Best to tip your bin men at Xmas and they really are your best friend then. Mine come in and get my bins when I forget to put them out ...

It may well be possible to claim on neighbours household insurance which should include some liability clause.

Kind of similar experience a while back (in May this year) while parked in middle of a Cumbrian racecourse having lunch when "neighbours" lost control of gazebo they were erecting which rolled over denting passenger side roof over door of my FFRR.
He contacted his household insurer and provided me with a claim no. which meant I had to make "allegation of neglidence" claim.

Very long winded - had to go through the insurers solicitors, and it took a couple of months - but eventually got paid out cheque which covered cost of repair plus car hire.....and a little bit more.

Not a great expereience - much more involved than road accident claim, where repairers normally deal direct with insurance company - but a reasonable result in the end.

Worth following up ????

Good luck.

Tim

As above their household insurance should cover it and if they haven't got any then its a case of getting the work done and taking them to court for the damages.

Sad

Also asking them nicely to stop doing it would help as well but i think a claim on their household insurance for a good few £££ should put them off leaving it there Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Still, I would tell them what happened and ask if they could help you out by keeping an eye on where the council leave the bins! Previously..
