Yes Alistair.
I have been told they will check the caravan gas cylinders are off then seal the locker. No idea with LPG vehicles. '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8, 2017 L405 Autobiography

Sorry that you have to go to Holland, can't the family go to a decent place like France ???

Hope you have a good time though without issues, not sure if most campgrounds are set up for big caravans but I assume you checked for ones that do Smile. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Good idea that ebajema

However I and the wife have hit pension time, so that gives you some idea of the age of the aunts.

Need to see them while they are still upright.

I have emailed some sites with the sizes of the caravan and they all came back positive so we'll see.

Good video that noddy thanks. Thumbs Up '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8, 2017 L405 Autobiography

We've found a caravan site near Oosterbeek and Arnhem, this holds particular interest as my father-in-law was there during the liberation of Holland, Operation Market Garden in WW2. "A Bridge Too Far". Being there will allow us to travel to the various parts where the aunts live. They are pretty well scattered from Amsterdam to Maarssen to Eindhoven and The Hague. and some more. We're going for ten days so I hope we will get round to seeing them fortunatley Holland isn't a large country. '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8, 2017 L405 Autobiography

Lpg cars are not permitted on euro tunnel, disconnecting of caravan gas supply to bottles is also a rule though I have seen it where they don't seem too concerned. I was also asked not to take photo's inside the pod as it's not permitted.

I took my D3 with caravan on the tunnel a few times and only changed to ferry with the half price deals about

We are thinking of Holland for easter next year, I'd be interested in your thoughts as I know dutch sites tend to be good but pitches are small....also we are considering a crossing into Hook of Holland, Rotterdam or Zeebrugge as we're from the north west of england.

I use the tunnel with our 8.8m Motorhome Rig and its easy as peasy. As said before you swing out a bit n the entry ramp to get straight before entry. Thumbs Up

N1cktdv8.
Got back on the 17th all went well. Yes your right they have smaller pitch than us. When we arrived it caused quite an interest throughout the site e.g. they don't have many twin axle caravans in Holland.
We found the campsite on a website UK campsites, they have a European section. I contacted the campsite and told them exactly what we were coming with e.g. 8mtr twin axle caravan two dogs and two adults and they sorted out the pitch, which was just right.
Last time I used the Harwich to Hook route was 2000 and they have changed the ferries since then so can't comment on the ships but the route out of The Hook is straight forward. I would recommend the use of a up to date sat nav plus a good road map. There were times when the sat nav was confusing. '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8, 2017 L405 Autobiography

Once you're through the ticket booths, you just follow the big road signs for "FRANCE"

And I'm not joking!!
