Did anyone replace the shelf to a plywood/Buffalo board type one in order to support and attach heavier load than the standard one, may it be fixed?

I would be quite useful with the dog guard and rear window grills to carry extra gear such as tents, folding seats, etc.

I have found this one found online, sporting a drawer for quick access bits and convertors.

Yes, I had one made out of oak which was 3" higher than std. Reason was to enable dog boxes to fit underneath for spaniels and the shelf above used to store guns and cartridges - quite heavy so needed to be strong, hence the oak - and it looks good.

I would like to build one for my off road trip dedicated Rangie, comparable to the one shown in the previous post.

On a side note, does anyone use the OEM sliding plastic boot liner AND a gun box?

The ability to slide the boot liner in and out is great, but obviously not compatible with the LR gun box. Anyone has a solution beside chopping the last 4rth of the lenght of the liner?
