Wacky wipers

If I have my wipers set to auto and it rains they behave in a very unpredictable manner - bursts of furious wiping, then intermittent, then fast, then stop... Drives me nuts. They don't work well according to the conditions. Anyone else have that problem or maybe I have a faulty sensor?

Mine occasionally go a bit mental - usually is strange light conditions, eg strong sunset - presume sensor gets confused/dirty

Usually a step change forward then back sorts it for a while.

Clean the sensor area really well.

One simply has to accept the fact that, since it NEVER EVER rains in the UK, British cars don't handle rain well. Talk to anyone with a leaky Defender, or anyone with a sunroof on a Land Rover over ten years old. Mr. Green

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Embarassed Seriously, I'm really impressed with the automatic wipers on my 2008. I'm surprised that the new ones aren't, at least, as good, if not much better. Shocked

True. All hell let's loose when we have a spot of rain. Thank goodness it's only twice a year. I actually put the auto switch one notch up from the minimum setting and for no reason I can fathom, the whole system is now working very well!
