^^ thankyou sir Laughing
it really is hideous though: when in the car with friends or family we always play 'gilded electric gate tennis'!
The bit I'm from (tarporley area) couldn't be further in concept from that place!

Does anyone else think there is enough interest to have an actual car show? Reviews, comparisons etc and no blooming lap times and lame schoolboy humour? Am sorry I just can't stand the show any more, though appreciate lots of people do love it. I guess I am with coogan on the quality of the comedy and the just awe inspiringly poor script writing. The whole arse licking Hammond/clarkson thing makes me cringe. And dont get me started about the staged hovervan waste of time and license money! But hey I obviously watched it. But just wish there was something a bit more relevant to car buyers on these days. I think I am in a minority of one but I prefered Woolard and goffey! less jokes about Mexicans and lady crisises and more actual info. Surely there is room for both somwhere on tv?

Fifth Gear?

I hear you, and as a car fan I agree with you occasionally, however 90% of viewers wouldn't be interested in a more factual show. Just be glad that there is such a large scale car show available to us. Hammond can irritate me too, but he has to be there as a part of the comic triumvirate. They do try to balance the silly stuff (hovervan included) with more factual things, but they are appealing to a broad church, and it's hard to please all of the people all of the time.

I think Clarkson dropped lucky with Top Gear. But as has been said, its turned into a farce now.

I do like the way it's filmed when they do "serious" pieces - The 'end of an Era' episode with the Aston Martin V12 with the Brian Eno soundtrack right at the end of the show was excellent. If they did more of that style and got rid of Hammond and May, it would be better.

I record on sky, and fast forward through all the rubbish .

distilled three episodes last night into an hour and half of good bits. Laughing

I like the European trips they do, like episode 3 to Spain in Mclaren, 458 and R8.
Or Stelvio pass a few years ago.... Whistle

My mate was at the filming last week, he knew the editor or something..
Got a "golden" ticket , 1 of 20? Went boozing after the show , BBQ by side of the track.
Said clarkson was loud & swearing, swigging rose from the bottle...

I quite liked it.

Mark Webber's Jag is for sale if anyone's interested. I was tempted, but then thought I have enough on my plate at the moment.
