The box has been faultless since I have owned the rr so after much deliberation of 'if it aint broke dont fix it' I decided to go to my local 4x4 specialist and have the gearbox in my td6 serviced. At 95K I know its a real possibility for the box to fail so of course I want to try prevent this as much as I can. To my relief they knew all about the GM and ZF boxes etc so I felt reassured enough to have the work done. Drove the beast in first thing in the morning and they told me that it would be ready at the end of the day so they could leave the box draining for as long as possible, nice
I Have only driven it home from the garage but it felt much smoother right away, I will go for a decent 'hilly' road drive tomorrow and see how it is compared to how it was and report back.

What is it a td6? and where did you had it done? how much was it?

I had it done in preparation to having it remapped which hasnt been done as of yet

I do plan to use them again for some other works as they seem to know what they are doing and are well set out, IMO thats worth travelling for.

By the way im not affiliated with them in any way, I just pasted that info from google as they dont have a website that I could find. I drive past the place every day and its always busy with rangies so I thought thats good enough for me I'll give them a try. My gearbox seems very smooth but I dont know if thats just a placebo effect LoL, Ill beast it later on for a good test

Tested / beasted and seems nice and smooth, Im not sure if its the same as before or better but at least its not worse

Ok its been a good 2 weeks or so since the gearbox service and I have noticed 2 things that are different.

The first thing is when I start it in the morning, put it in drive and take my foot off the brake there is a noticeable delay in the rr actually moving forwards, its a good couple of seconds, now I know it never used to do that. Does this sound normal ?

The second thing is putting the rr in low range and also selecting HDC, im sure it was never noisy in the past but now when i select the low range it makes a horrible crunching / creaking kind of sound and as the rr moves around it just feels odd. I need to do some more in low range with HDC and pay attention to what it is doing.

Have a 2003 L322 TD6, have done 260000kms in it. Live in France. Local Range Rover garage says 'NEVER' to do this, but I was 'shuddering' when stationery, so took the plunge and had it done on a return trip to the UK.
Have now also done it myself twice all items available off the web, difference was immediate..... have now had it done three times...
Was advised by Phil at www.lrr.co.uk/ the first time it was done to drain and redo the oil after a couple of thousand kms as the gearbox holds 9 litres of oil and only 6 litres drains out etc....
