Question about Sky multiroom in another "room"

I took my multiroom Sky box to the caravan last week, and tried to get it working with a new dish fitted to a tripod and signal finder. The reading on the signal finder went off the gauge but I still get the message " no satellite signal is being received".

I was led to believe this would work. Im now thinking that the box is paired to the dish at home.
Anyone know how to get it working?

you probably pointed it at the wrong satellite , there are loads up there and its very easy to get the wrong one..and no the box isnt paired up with the dish. ... - .- -.

There is no "pairing" between dish and box. We do the same thing - i.e take our sky box (with card in) when caravanning.

On the settings and signal strength screen make sure there is "002" in the box under the signal strength and signal quality bars and an "OK" on signal lock box.

You may be picking up an adjacent satellite (astra 1 not astra 2) and just need to tweak your dish a bit westward.

Also, we sometimes find that having found what we think is the correct sat signal and getting no picture, turning box off at mains then back on a few minutes to reboot fixes the problem. (strangely similar experience to fullfat fault clearance and battery problems!!!!!)

Hope this helps

Tim

I aimed the dish to 28.2 degrees using dish align on my iphone. I then used the signal finder to get the rest of the way. Either side of this, the signal finder dropped off.
I'll have another play this weekend. I'll try the signal strength on screen as well if it responds quickly enough.

I thought it might be a faulty lnb, even though its brand new. I wouldn't be getting a signal reading on the finder though if that was the case, surely?

you might be getting a good 'strength' signal but if the 'quality' signal is low then you wont get a picture..
and there are a few sats around there that give a good signal in the UK like arabsat at 30 and if your app was out theres astra2 at 19 and hotbird at 13.. ... - .- -.

I've just checked my home sat dish and that's not pointing to 28.2. I've copied the angle to my phone compass and try again this weekend.

All 3 iPhones in the house show the home dish as 140 degrees SE. I'll use that same position for the caravan satellite. Won't be far out hopefully.

You are pointing at the wrong sat most likely,

This is easy to do if the elevation is wrong. The satellites are in an arc in the sky of if you are a bit low then you will be on the one to the left of astra, a bit high and it will the one to the right.

The box will lock on to any but wont process any signals except astra so you could ve showing full signal but no picture.

The iphone apps are good as a guide but not particularly accurate.

Find the right sattelite and it will deffo work, i had my multi room box set up with a maxview dish on a tripod at le mans. If it is showing a signal then tge lnb is fine.

Fiddling with the tilt on the dish is what is needed, once you have it scratch a mark, tgen it will be much easier to set up. Just swing from left to right, the elevation is pretty mich the same for all of the uk give or take. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
