Very happy ;-)

Hi all,

Just wanted to give you all a heads up. I had my car detailed last week as I was getting married the next day and wanted to use it to ferry the bridesmaids around.
I found this guy http://www.polishingbooth.com/ in Leyland. As I had loads of running round to do the day before the big day, he arranged to get in work early (7am!!) to make sure he had enough time to do it and be finished by lunchtime.
The results were great!
I`m very pleased which is why I`m posting here.
I`m not on a commission, or didn`t get discount for this. I just appreciate hard work and a good job when I see one! Highly recommend him. Wink

Use him every month to wash / polish mine - Every 1/4 he does the inside and 2 times a year it gets a wax.

My other FF will be going there soon also for a full do.

The main difference is that a valeter will clean it and sometimes polish the paint, usually making a rather good job of it as well. (compared with the Kosovan car scrub at your local supermarket). The car above looks stunning and has clearly been properly spruced up, probably by an accomplished detailer.

A detailer will spend hours, sometimes days polishing the paintwork until all traces of swirlies and holograms are gone. Any traces of orange peel are usually wetsanded to be perfectly flat prior to polishing and waxing. The aim is a mirror finish. That's not to say a complete detail is always required though.

However, proper full on detailing is a labour of love and normally reserved for show cars or supercars. Hobby detailers like me will also keep their daily drivers looking mint as well. And yes, I am one of those detailing clean freaks Whistle

Having done a FFRR for a customer about a year ago I vowed never to do another. More bodywork than a london bus. Big Cry That took me a full 4 days to get it to the level where I would be happy to enter it in a show. That was purely the paintwork and wheels. No interior work at all.

For a better idea, check out one of the first exterior only details I did.

And if you think that's obsessive, then try this. These guys are widely acknowledged as being in the top 5 in the UK. I personally rate them number 1 but then I did win one of their show-'n'-shine competitions Wink

All that kerfuffle about polish and washing, yet not even one pic of the bridesmaids. Sad Not sure you should be reading this bit.

The acid test is........was it under £100? Then it was a valet......

A detailing on an FFRR would be £400 to £500

I spent £400 getting my RRS done and although it was an excellent job I didnt think it was much better than a good valet for £60 Big Cry

Great job though Thumbs Up

Good point. Seriously, £500 for something that lasts a week (if it's not Censored down!) is just mental. I can totally understand people doing it themselves for the job satisfaction but don't get why anyone would pay that figure for a 'posh valet' Shocked

Correct Thank You. Thumbs Up

Everyone asumes that Detailing means Full Correction to Paintwork, It Doesn't, Its attention to Detail, Believe me to turn that car around in 5 hours was made a whole lot easier because it was tidy when it came in, The customer wanted it looking it's best in the time given and it did.

It was Snow Foamed, Was washed two bucket method, All Tar was Removed from the Lower panels, was Polished using a Megs G220 DA with 3M Perfect-it III™ Extra Fine Compound, Poorboy's Black Hole Show glaze was then applied and topped of with Autoglym HD wax.

Now somebody tell me it was Valeted Laughing

There simply ain't a valeter who would spend 5 hours on one car, unless he's really crap at his job or has no arms.

Detailing as said = attention to all the small details. Add in paint correction and you're on a whole other level. Actually, the more I think about it, I think the true test is not so much what was done but more how it was done.

Valeters don't tend to understand the 2BM, lambswool mitts, Ph neutral shampoo, slidelock brushes, foam pre-washing etc etc. Valeters, by and large, use sponges, chamois leathers and bits of rag. Detailers would never use such paint damaging items. Go take a look at detailingworld and most there will tell you that leathers are for the bedroom / horses / motorcycling etc. Not for Censored up the paint on cars.

Which is why Hoppy_70 although you might see £500 as money wasted, actually, if it includes paint correction it really isn't wasted at all. The car will look a lot better for a lot longer than if you give it to a valeter 5 times. Also, a protection detail (wash, cleanse and wax) would cost little more than a valet but do so much more to enhance the look of the car.

Anyway, valet or detail, that looks rather tasty

What ever you decide on what Michael @ 'The Polishing Booth' does

I am very happy with what he does and has done to my cars and he WILL be getting my other FFRR shortly and my bike at sometime.

All work dione for me. And yes Mick the wheels are your old ones.

I would not have taken out a year long contract, if I was not a happy bunny.

I would also have no issue in sending anyone to him.

Bow down Thumbs Up
