Thinking of going to see this one...

Found this vehicle via Autotrader. As mentioned in previous thread i'm not too up with the RangeRover. Its about a 100 mile round trip to go and see it and I thought i'd ask the collective for their thoughts and advice before going. I know its not that far but if anyone spots anything obviously not right or knows of the garage then it will save me some time and money.

So, your thoughts etc please......its been for sale for a good few weeks now but I assume thats because its more a specialist type vehicle than being a ringer?

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

I would have thought it's more likely down to the horrible wood & dodgy black wheels Whistle

If the wood is your thing, then go for it - I bought one similar & had all the wood done in piano black by a specialist - cost me around £500.

Wheels are easy to replace - again, unless you happen to like them - no accounting for taste Razz

My advice is avoid "2002" models and find a 2003 or 4. No idea why but 2002 are more unreliable by a margin.

If it makes any odd noises on a tet drive, run away very fast ! Would be worthwhile waitin for a known forum car, unless you are in a mad rush. Or save your pennies & get one from Gaz! His are rather splendid. Nice tits btw mick!

Thanks guys, i'm looking up to about 9K max really so not expecting the world, but to me its a lot of money to spend on a vehicle if you know what I mean!
To be honest its a toss up between a RR and a Disco.....but i'm liking the refinement you get with the RR, it must be my age

Slight fly in the ointment. If you're committed to the Green Oval - I'd go for a late mint Discovery 2.

Both RR's and Discovery 3's can be bloody (expensive) nightmares in the lower price ranges, where you can easily start to throw lots of money at them . . . . lots of people on here have done just that Rolling Eyes

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Thats my worry, shelling out that sort of money on something 10 years old. Think i'll have to find a happy medium, perhaps go and test drive a couple to get the 'feel' for them Thumbs Up

Are you mental Tugg the D2 is a Dinosaur compared to D3 or L322 which you can get easily for £9k in great order. I do it regularly and when driving a D2 I just want to get out quickly (before it blows up) , normally at the dealer that buys them from me..... Laughing

United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Oslo Blue

Hi Buz, have you considered a v8 with lpg conversion, or buy a good v8 and get it converted yourself. Same running costs as the diesel, more motors to choose from. 03 4.4 V8 petrol / lpg. 1st of many hopefully. I love my Rangie

^Wot he said. There's no comparison.

The 2002 FFRRs are the run-in model. Likely to have loads of in-production-line improvements and upgrades to fix issues that arise in early builds. Trust me, I used to work for (Austin) Rover... Graham

Go and drive as many as you can and get a feel for them... Undoubtably you get good and bad with both D3 & FF I own both and they are entirely different... If I was on a lower budget I think i would buy a good high spec D3 HSE as you get the better 6 speed gearbox and IMHO the TDV6 is a better engine than the TD6 in the FF (but then I do get to drive them every day in my job Thumbs Up )
