Lakeside hotel at the southern end of the lake is nice, food also good there. There are lots of very nice places to stay on the eastern shores, depends on how deep you want to dig into your pockets Whistle

Brockholes is a nice day out, go and see Ambleside and grasmere, make sure you have some gingerbread in grasmere from the shop by the church. Pop over to coniston and take a stroll around tarn hows. Visit any number of the national trust properties in the area.

Do you want to go walking as well? If so you are in the right place...

Enjoy the local hostelries, in my experience the beer is good and the food also...

Don't fall into the trap of upsetting the locals by calling anything "Lake Windermere" as there is no such place!
A Mere is the name for a lake, so the correct name is simply Windermere. To explain further, I don't believe that you'd call Loch Ness anything like Lake Loch Ness? Hope that explains thing? Now how do I know all of this? Embarassed

Now I'm jealous as the forecast for this weekend in excellent, so your guaranteed to have a great time. I'd try one of the passes like Hardknot Pass, it'll give you a chance to drop the RR into low box & she'll sail up & back down. Then you can giggle at mere(please excuse the pun lol) mortals with smoke billowing from the brakes as the decent & with overheating issues on the way down lol.

Have a great time mate. I'll be in Cumbria working later this week, but there's no rest for the wicked,,,,
