For the past few months I've had a ticking noise from the engine of my MY08 V8. It starts after any trip over 3 or 4 miles, once engine has warmed up a bit.

The noise is a tapping / ticking noise that increases in speed with the revs and is a bit louder in drive, but still noticable in neutral. (Can't hear it in the cabin at all though)

The really annoying thing however, is that when I pull over and pop the bonnet to find where its coming from, it fades away after about 1 min and so I don't have chance to hone in on the noise - but I think it's the drivers side of the engine somewhere, but can't really tell....

I've taken it to my Indie twice, who've heard it but have no idea - said it may be a bearing going, maybe... After giving it an interim service they said its appears to be a good car with no issues and I should forget the noise!

So, I took it to a main dealer today, but same thing! They heard, agreed it was odd and shouldnt be making that noise, but had no real idea. Out of courtesy they plugged her in too but no faults, and couldn't add anything.

I know that to now ask you guys over a forum is very long shot but I'm concerned its the start of smthg bad!

Mine has a ticking noise coming from the drivers side.

As far as i can remember its always done it. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Ticking for me was tappets. Does the tapping go faster when you put your foot down? Im sure if it was that a garage would know though

Yes the ticking does increase with revs / acceleration, but the noise level doesn't.
