Denso Sat Nav System - Route Calculation

Planned a route earlier for a trip I will be doing in August to Cornwall and as usual the system calculates 3 routes - 'Shortest' 'Quickest' and 'Normal' if I remember correctly.

200 ish mile journey for 'Quickest' and about 215 ish miles for 'Normal' however 'Quickest' calculated at about 4hrs whereas 'Shortest' was over 6hrs!

Extra 2 hours for 15 miles?

When it works out the route does it take into account traffic issues?

AFAIK it does not take live traffic into account in either the planning or live phases.
It computes based on road segment speed, distance and preferences.
So for shortist route the calculation is it is distance only.
Quickest is based on distance and road segment speed.
Normal is a mix taking into account your chosen preferences.

It could take some TMC info into account if you were paid up with Traffic Master but i think after the 1s year no-one ever bothers do they Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

TMC is free and uses the FM-RDS signals....normally the TMC gives you an option if there's problems on your route.. ... - .- -.

So will TMC give you the option to recalculate a route if the traffic is bad on a 2007-onwards model?

I know it does that on the latest Freelanders (bit hit and miss, though, in my experience) but didn't think it worked on the slightly older models? Si. <This is my name.

Does the TMC module use the same FM aerial as the radio? My TMC shows a fault, antenna connection failure, yet my radio works just fine. Should've been old enough to know better...doh!

Yea it does .... had it pop up once or twice on me when there was an accident and subsequent lane closure on motorway .... also shows heavy traffic and road closures when not using sat nav to route anywhere too.

Same here, its the IIDTool that shows the fault. How do you retune the TMC? Should've been old enough to know better...doh!
