I see lots of posts here about suspension issues, so anything suspension-wise worries me. So here's my question:

I've got a 2008 petrol V8 (not a SC). I've had it almost a year. Today I got a "suspension fault" message. I've had a total of three over the past 11 months. Every time it's been solved by a quick shutoff and restart. All suspension modes work as they should and car rises/lowers promptly. Is this just a wired computer gremlin - restart and don't worry, or the start of something more serious?

When my front wheel struts and bearings were replaced, the height sensors went out of range and that caused it to act up. Also the damaged one of the ABS leads setting of the HDC inactive, ABS and DSC inactive.

Now on your car has any work been done that could have caused the height sensors (front and/or back) to loose the plot a bit ??

It could be a height sensor on its way out.

I doubt it is the compressor but it could be that as well, reading the fault codes may point you in the right direction. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

No recent work. It had a new windshield last summer, but I'm not aware of any low down/underneath type work. I need to get the car in for a routine service and oil change.

Ebajema, you've convinced me to have them check all the fluids and make sure the maintenance is all up to date.
There's already a few small jobs for them: loose bit of trim, tyre sensors, tailgate struts, and a seal on the fuel filler to be sorted.

Is it worth getting them to check for error codes? Would the car log an intermitent suspension fault?

It will more than likely be your battery voltage at the point of start up... If the battery is under charged during a start up, it will first flag up a suspension issue as that's the first "weakest link point" Now, im not saying your battery is faulty! But, for example...one day if you park your car at an event and keep returning to it hourly for the day and unlocking the car and opening doors before locking and leaving then returning an hour later, and so on. I bet you will get the message when you start up at the end of the day. Due to the battery drain from the ECU's waking up, interior lights and central locking going...

So usually, your symptoms can be put down to battery voltage at point of start up...

Up to you to look at your batteries age now

sometimes at the car wash (and only there) i got this - just restart the engine and it is gone .....

Thanks all! I don't know the age if the battery and alternator, but I had them tested at the last service after hearing almost all FFRR problems could be traced there. The battery and charging system both passed as OK and no remediation was recommended.

Angel, that's how I've solved the problem, and with three occurrences in 11 months, it's certainly a viable solution. It's just that the car's heading in for a routine service and I'd like them to sort everything in one go.

well i got exactly that problem !! Since they changed my brake discs and pads and front wheel bearings i got this errors coming up !

What is the f***** cure ???  All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

I was getting the Suspension Fault message at start-up and sometimes during driving mine, it needed to have the air compressor re-work kit done by the dealer, wasn't much money and it fixed it. Discovery 4 HSE

Hi Angel, my problem was cured by replacing the ABS sensors on the front wheels (that is where the work was done). The guys here are not very "careful" in their work. I have on many occasions moved the brake caliper such that the hoses weren't under tension bent around the socket crimp edge

On mine it threw up a fault, the HDC and ABS were out of commission so it was easy. Maybe yours is just dislodged or the connector is not fully seated so it loses contact a bit every now and then.

I suggest to get the dealer to look at ABS sensors and height sensors.

The car wash link says to me that water is getting somewhere it shouldn't go, a connector or sensor maybe ??
