But you HATE silver.... Well, you did a few pages ago.

Or have you changed your mind on that as well as the budget? Mr. Green

Corvette. Campaj, you're just jealous that you didn't think of it first. Laughing I'm trying to find a Holden Maloo for Joe's money but there's nothing doing. That'd be a scream! Si. <This is my name.

I love the Maloo because if its craziness !!! It is the Lambo among Australian cars, brash, loud, over the top and very bloody capable. If I'd live in Oz, I would probably get one, just for fun and supporting the tyre industry Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I have a few friends in NZ and one of them used to work for a radio station. And being in the promotions side, she used the Hauraki ute a lot. Nice V8 Holden and it would set your hair on fire blasting off in that. Love them however impractical they are for me with the kids (the two seaters) but that is what the FFRR is for Wink

On the XKR, have to admit I am leaning towards that a lot more than the 928 at the moment. Hope you get is and you can always do a nice wrap if the colour doesn't do it for you Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Ha! You're right Si - I'm not a huge silver fan...but I won't turn down a car that ticks every other box because it's silver...also - my plan is to wrap it black (if I can get him to chuck in the other wheels for what I've offered).

Yes, I remember that, but how do you 'detail' black vinyl? It can't be the same as polished paintwork, surely?

And the silky glassy finish can't be the same, can it?

Then again, come resale time, I suppose you have the stuff removed to reveal immaculate paintwork underneath?

Anyway, you appear more passionate about this than the original concept of a 944, so good luck with it! Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

My brain is jumping from car to car like a cat on a hot tin roof at the moment Si.

I do get excited about the XKR option, but the thing is I should REALLY stick to my original budget of £4k - the plan was for this to be a cheap fun toy - once you start creeping up to cars advertised at £6k - and then thinking about spend £1k having it wrapped etc - it starts to defeat the original purpose of what I set out to get. Something fun that I don't need to take too seriously, but that puts a smile on my face.

At the moment I'm trying to resist getting in the car and driving to Amersham to buy this!

It's the (highly undesirable) Tiptronic, which is why it's up at £4,595 not £6,595...but I'm wondering if I care really. Yes it's 1.4 seconds slower to 60, but in a car this old, does that make any real world difference?

Might be harder to sell when it comes to it, but buy cheap, sell cheap, so who cares?

And besides, just look at it....it's glorious! It could not have an engine and I could just sit looking at it and think it was £4k well spent.

Ok...I'm getting carried away. Embarassed But it really does tick all the boxes.

these porkers do nothing for me personally but if its really what you want then go for it...
you could easily get an XK8 in the right colour for less than £4k, or does it have to be an XKR?

Must be my age. I was 15 when the 968 was released and spent many hours drooling over them through the windows of Porsche dealers....

I know they're not to everyone's taste (the Jag is unquestionably more beautiful) but there's some weird retro appeal to them that talks to me!

And I think if I do a Jag, I'd want to hang on for an XKR...I've seen a few ads for (now sold) cars that would've been close enough to budget to make it doable, so I could just play the waiting game.

Seriously... If you are going to spend 4k on a toy, stop thinking about how much you will get back when you sell it.
The only thought should be how much fun you are going to have with it!!

It's an addiction. I do the same. As soon as I've bought one car, I'm planning the next. Thumbs Up

But ain't it enjoyable! Searching for and buying cars is so Censored enjoyable!

Then again, a few have been deeply satisfying to own long-term. Our E-Class Mercs and my 110 fall into that category. Si. <This is my name.
