Hi there my 4.4 starts perfectly when cold, i.e. turn the key and it fires within 2 seconds. For the last few months when I turn it off and re-start it a few hours later (the car is still warm) it takes 4-5 seconds of turning before firing and then runs rough for a couple of seconds. It has recently started playing up if the car is left for 15 mins, thou very intermittent. Doesn’t make any difference if the car is running on Petrol or LPG. Has new plugs/ leads battery etc, my first thought it coolant temperature sensor, anyone else seen this?

As one of the former sufferers of this issue, I can tell you that for me the problem went away when the fuel system got the royal treatment. New fuel pump, cleaned injectors and cleaned inlet manifold.

Also the latest version of the ECU software had a positive effect on the running of the engine.

My suggestion is to focus on cleaning your fuel system i.e. clean fuel and injector cleaner as well as a new fuel filter.

My thought was that either a dirty injector stayed open a bit letting the fuel pressure in the line drop due to leakage into the cylinder or a non return valve allowing fuel to drain into the tank.

Also I would suggest to update your ECU software, install a new air filter and check for vacuum and PVC issues.

I also remember another member having an issue with his LPG ECU that resulted in both petrol and LPG going in at the same time but that could have been a rogue incident of course.

LPG cars normally start on petrol and then switch over. So you may want to focus on the petrol side first. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

You could do worse than look for a leaking injector

I had exactly the same problem on a Fiat Coupe twice. Both times it was due to an injector leaking.

I believe my car started fine when cold as the leaked fuel had evaporated away over a number of hours.

When started from warm the fuel has not had time to evaporate, hence the mixture is far too rich, it wont fire and the ECU logs an error. 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

i have this exact error with rough starting when warm, cold starts perfect no issues at all. There are no fault codes logged in the ecu have checked with my faultmate.

I am going to give the fuel filter a change.

I had same symptoms and problems as you,changed my fuel pump after it failed and new filter,flushed my fuel system,Problem went away for a while but has returned.

No fault codes with IID tool but am suspecting a faulty Crank Position Sensor as the culprit,the M62 has a few issues with this.Am going to do it soon with the PCV pipes so will hopefully sort it
