United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Zambezi Silver

Only got one key at present... (The garage has the spare on order)

Did exactly the same putting stuff in the boot after having the car for 3 days.. (dropped them in)

Green flag couldn't get in it.... but the guy supplied me with a business card for an auto locksmith... who quoted ฃ65.00 and turned up an hour later and after 45 mins being intimate with the door lock, at 10.45pm I had my key back out of the boot...

Big lesson learnt..... DONT USE THE LITTLE BUTTON ON THE FOB THAT HAS THE "BOOT PICTURE"

We live and learn every day.......... But some time it "costs" us....

Cutting a blade as a spare is a top tip !! Thumbs Up

My Audi had a plastic emergency key for just that...

Where can I get one ? Dan @ Duckworths ? Rolling Eyes Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Glad that it was sorted, still a bit of a Censored that it happened.

On the spare blade, I haven't looked for good spots to hide it but then a wallet would usually do the trick or in my case the external case of my phone. Something that you would not likely have in the car when you are just opening the boot !! MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

A spare blade, metal part only, is a good idea but unfortunately isn't quite practical. When you insert the blade into the lock about 7mm sticks out.
Unless you have fingers like a pair of pliers you will not be able to turn the blade to unlock.
What you really need is a lever about 15mm long fitted thro the hole in the end of the blade to provide sufficient leverage to operate the lock.
Then it works. Thumbs Up

The guy who got mine back couldn't cut me a spare and I tried a local Timpson's and they said they couldn't cut one either.... (Dealer supplied Only).
Until the spare arrives and is car coded.. the original one is never very far away... I see the point for security ..... but the price is over ฃ200 (Good job I am not paying it...)

I bought a blank on ebay and took it to my local Timpsons and they cut it without a problem.
Worked first time.
Seems to depend on the local Timpson staff.

Even if the tealeaf found the blade, the car won't start, actually I think when I tried a replacement key that hadn't been synced to the car the alarm went off when I used it and the car wouldn't start.

It's all very well having a spare key cut but do make sure that the drivers door lock actually works off the key as they have a habit of being fu-barred Shocked
