Air con question

Hi there, I start my vogue up, if I turn the fan speed up to first light the auto light comes on the knob, is this normal? If I try pressing the knob to turn the light off the round light (second light) comes on? If I press my air con button it's sometimes lights up and sometimes doesn't cant really work out when it works and doesn't! But doesn't get cold for sure! After reading some posts in guessing ill get it re gassed to Start with! Also if I press the max button the air con button somtimes comes on but still isn't cold? The centre vents are set to cold and heat on both knobs are set to 16?? Any help in enlightening me would be great Smile

You need to gas it , make sure they tell you how much comes out compared to how much they put in it might tell you something . 2008 MY Supercharged

One of the cheaper options, but doesn't necessarily mean they know what they are doing! .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I am pretty sure the first light signifies the system is on.
The second light 'Auto' when on allows the car to adjust the airflow to automatically achieve the temperature set.
eg set 16 degrees press auto, both lights come on - car will try its best to achieve 16 degrees using all the settings at its disposal.
If you override the 'auto' feature by pressing one of the three buttons to tell the system where you want the airflow; maybe the downwards setting for feet, one of the lights in the button goes off as you've turned off the 'auto' function.

All the above is how my system works and generally how all cars with 'climate control' work.

It also does sound like you need to have the system checked and re-gassed.
A good air-con service should remove and weigh the remaining gas, vacuum test the system and re-fill the gas and compressor lubricant.
Hope this helps.
Had it, loved it!

Everytime you press the "auto button" the AC light should illuminate as that is the default programming... If the AC light does not come on every time then you may have further issues to resolve after the re-gas...

They also cannot re-gas it if the light does not come on as the system needs to work whilst final filling Thumbs Up

Thanks, I got in the rr to come home and the system was on auto straight away, the a/c light came on, drove not even 50yrds and it went off again? Weird! If the blowers are flat out(full speed) and I press the a/c button i can hear the speed fluctuate but no light?
