2004 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Java Black

caliper clean up.

hi, the sun was shinning so i thought i would do a few little jobs, i wanted to tidy my front disc's and callipers,it had a set of new disc's about 5 months ago but they soon discolour and start to rust

started by giving the plastic inner arch a good clean and wire brushed all the dry dirt off and then washed it all down,done the same on the caliper. check all the bushes,they were all ok as well as the cv boot.
masked up the hub and gave it a coat of hi/temp silver,removed the caliper and painted gloss black.
replaced the caliper and pads, used some copper ezz on the bolts as they were a bit stiff coming out.

i bought a set of vinly range rover stickers for the calipers and they look well when fitted, the job took about 2/3 hours and was well worth it.gave the wheel a good clean fron and back..

will do the other side tomorrow and then the rears..

it was one of my jobs to do! when the car was cleaned and polished and the wheels are unmarked, it realy bugged me when i look through the wheels to see the caliper, they are worse on the back as they are old disc but i have new discs and pads so i have painted the disc already,just need to give the calipers the same treatment. Know exactly what you mean - on the rare occasions that my car IS clean, the brake components inside the wheels always let it down.

Where did you get the stickers from? - are they not going to melt once the brakes get hot? - are brembo stickers available?

No you wouldn't ... but I like the work daveo has done to his, so much so - I am now considering doing the same to mine, therefore I would want to replace the brembo script on my brembo calipers that would be painted over if I were to follow his lead.

brembo stickers on stock calipers? - R E A L L Y !

Why would you want to make something look like it isn't?

That would be like fitting Supercharged grilles to a TDV.....Doh!

hi, done the right side, gave me a chance to clean off some old oil from a leaking oil filter housing [now fixed]
i got the stickers from ebay, they are meant to be able to cope with the hi temp, and have so far today,

they come in straight or curved, i went for straight in white as they are stock brakes.

as i said i have done about 70 miles today and through traffic,all ok...with one thing, maybe i put a little to much copper ezz as it flicked up a bit, not that bad will clean with a cloth and white spirit,
also found wonder wheels very good, i have seen a few posts about tar spots and that, well this is the bizz, but be careful put on work in and wash off, don't leave on there as its very strong stuff.

Will be interesting to see how they last, because vinyl by it's very nature is usually not good with heat.
Three or five year stuff usually used by graphics companies goes a bit soft on a hot day.

Good wright up with lots of pictures though.

we will see how they go, hopefully will do the rears later this week,have new disc and pads, will be doing handbrake shoes as well. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
