United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Stornoway Grey
Ipod Mod

Lo peeps

I have one of the old classic 85 gig iPods with a screen and am looking for ideas on how to mount the the iPod in my Rodney

Craig tried to fit the Griffin mod that plugs into the cigarette lighter socket in the ash tray of the centre console but it wouldn't fit with the ash tray closed , don't know if I am being fussy here but looking for a solution i.e. some sort of mount and the other problem I have is the aux socket is in the rear of the car , not sure if there is one in the front.

I would want to connect via the aux but it being in the back of the car makes it messy i.e. an audio lead from the back of the car to the front and the need to charge on the move to as the battery life seems to be a bit grim as I have only just charged it and there is only a quarter of the power left in the iPod = am I missing something here ?

I stupidly assumed that the 2008 model would have iPod connectivity. Embarassed

I do have to stress that expensive mods are out of the question as the work I am having done on the car .... well lets just say I didn't do my research and I have a scary bill coming Big Cry

Any suggestion's appreciated even if they are a bit more money , just to give me an idea of what is possible

cheers
Dave

Search 'iPod kit' or 'Audio Connectivity Module'
Try 'Brodit' for a mounting solution.

I disagree axle, I have the ACM and it works great. Touch Screen and Steering wheel controls, track title display, charging and perfect sound. That's with my iPhone 5 too.
Bargains can be had on auction sites I paid about £250 for mine brand new in the box.

You can now just select 'album' or playlist from in my case the phones screen as it no longer locks it out. Then use the track buttons on the Nav unit or Steering wheel. Thumbs Up

Thanks very much for the responses but I cant justify that amount of money at the mo so it looks like its back to an audio wire and a power adapter in the cigarette lighter. Sad

Dave I bought the above works a treat obviously you have to select Aux as the input on the FF and control everything from the iPod but I just set up playlists I like.

It costs a few pounds and obviously takes up a cupholder, I had to shim the mount to get a tight fit and the lead just slips easily round to the rear sockets.

Maybe something like this will work ??

No steering wheel controls but choosing a good playlist will help.

I use this for holding up my S3 in the FFRR (and in the rental cars Smile ) :

Works quite well. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks supershuttle & ebajema Thumbs Up

I do like the look of the cup holder mount and the set of leads you gave me the link for. Thumbs Up

Have only had the car , correction its still with Graig for just over two weeks and have spend what to me is a huge amount of money already so an expensive option is out of the question but thanks guys.

Dave, I use a similar lead to connect the iPod to the aux input in the rear but I was fed up with leads trailing out of the centre consol to the rear aux input so I removed the rear vents, unscrewed the aux input panel, soldered some wires direct to the aux input circuit board, drilled a hole in the centre cubby box and installed a headphone socket.

I can now used my iPod easily in the car - I'll put a write up on an earlier Aux socket thread I started sometime this week... 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

Hey

I like the idea of what you are saying but actually doing something like that I doubt that I would attempt it to be totally honest ..... i mean ideally it would be a headphone socket and a usb socket in that centre cubby box but as said having the confidence to do such a thing is something else altogether as I must admit just having that wire trailing from the rear aux socket was winding me up already, why they couldn't have those sockets in the first place i will never know as I stupidly assumed that an 08 model would of have iPod connectivity but hey ya live and learn. Confused

I had both the cup holder and the 3.5mm + charger to ipod lead. The lead works well and i use it with my iphone 5.

If you look there is a small channel where the lid of the centre cubby shuts to let you put the lead out and still shut the lid. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
