Decided to see how the FFRR performs in sand, I decided to attempt to drive along the beach this afternoon. The sand was quite soft so I made sure I stayed away well away from the waters edge.

What tyres are you using? Have you ever had any traing to drive on sand? Not sure you should be reading this bit. |

I've been plenty of times in the sand, never got stuck once! Although, I was riding on 19's with Good Year Wrangler HP tires! But I also think it depends how you drive! mercuryf1 said he put his pedal to the metal, so I guess this doesn't help!

Although the sea salt may not be good for the car, the sand is harder nearer the water as the water makes it more dense. When I was driving in Morocco the sand was quite soft, but once I got my disco closer to the sea it was like driving on a road as long as you didn't make wild steering inputs. I'd suggest very gentle driving too. Give it a load of power and the wheels need to spin and start to dig in a bit before the electronics try to save you. Better to think first and pull away as slowly as possible so as not to break up the sand under you. Once you break through the harder surface it's all to easy to get stuck. |
