Having served in the Marine Corps for several years, I agree with jfb1977... You don't hate what's in front of you because you should not hate what you do not know... You care (and are willing to fight and give your life for it) about what's behind you and the guy's who are standing on the same line on your left and right who are in the same situation and for who you know will have your back when your in a hostile situation...

RIP Rigby and condolences to his family and friends!! Mike.

The Military doesn't want, need and should not be expected to be doing the jobs of the parents of our youth. Throwing these baggy-trousered slackers into the Military solves nothing. We don't want them.

Why shouldn't the parents be accountable for how their children act? Why make National Service the cure for someone else's failure?

You don't teach respect. You earn it.

My two peneth worth for what its worth, i think they should re-instate national service and get some self respect back into this country of ours... Teach the mobile phone filming, rioting, trouble making youth with or without jobs in this, our beloved Britain some self discipline and respect for their fellow man...

We may become a harder target to these cowardly extremists then!

That's what the t shirt stood for Help For HERO'S...

Not all "misfits" will be a waste to the army. Good example is Andy McNab, just read his non fictional books (Bravo Two Zero for example). He started of as a "troubled" youth that found his way in the army that gave him the structure and support he needed to finally sort himself out and there are many examples like him. Many armies have an excellent history in helping kids, especially boys, find their way, thanks to the structured and regimented life. I have met them and worked with them myself during my time in the army and have seen first hand how it works (and was very happy to do my tiny part in that process).

I totally agree that parents are responsible for raising their kids and nobody else. I would go as far as saying that you have to keep a keen eye on the school as well, to ensure they are doing a good job as well (well we do) and be actively involved in ensuring they behave properly and are taught and treated properly.

Although it would be impossible to implement and enforce, I feel that parents would need to sit a very tough exam before they can even have kids. Like I said impossible to implement and enforce but it does make sense. Prospective parents that will be releasing kids onto society should ensure those kids know how to behave, act, understand right from wrong, be respectful, honest etc. etc. Parenthood should not be a universal right, it actually comes with a lot of duties.

Problem kids start in 99.99999999% of the cases with the parents not (being able to) raising them properly.

Without knowing the background of these two murderers, I would wager that it will be part parental control but not all. Some kids start out OK but are corrupted later. Especially kids from "conflict" areas. Not that that is any justification for what they have done, EVER. What worries me is that there are still millions of people, especially kids, that are being treated so badly that they turn into hating individuals, rightfully or wrongfully. That is one of the things we as an international community need to address.

For these two murderers, lock them up and throw away the key, they clearly can't live in any society ever.

To the family of the deceased, my sincere condolences, sometimes the world just doesn't make sense and there is just no justice to what happens. He didn't deserve to die like this and I feel very sorry for his family and friends for their loss. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Locking them up and throwing away the key is far too good for this scum... Why should I pay for their sat tv and three quality meals a day out of my taxes... An eye for an eye! They took the soldiers rights away...

Be interesting to see what their Cumuppence will be for these Bas***ds. The Bacon Slicer would be too quick.

Theres already talk of one of them coming from a christian family. The problem is there are too many Do Gooders that will side on these Bas***ds when they are brought to book.

Genuine Thoughts are with the family and all concerned.

something similar has happened in Paris
a nutter stabbed a soldier on patrol in La Defense and ran off
the soldier was at the rear of a three man patrol

I do hope it wasn't a copy cat

Probably was copy cat attack. I don't understand why the attacker got away with 2 other soldiers present.

What I find patronising is when they send out a reporter to go out about these things and they're almost always Asian as if to prove a point. Asians and other Muslims as a society have nothing to do with this terrorism. Would they send out a gay person to report on a homophobic attack? No.

The people keeping this alive are violent, British haters and are imbalanced, attention seeking cowards.

The problem in this country and particularly with the BBC is that we give the radicals too much air space when journalists and News rooms should be reporting facts and not looking for points just to be PC as this just gives these people all the air time they crave.

We need a law to send these people to prison if they organise rallies and shout death threats, hatred and abuse towards others. This should be a new law and should be based on acts of treason.

As soon as they go inside and in solitary confinement this will clear up the situation or if possible deport them all to their country of origin.

You might think this is a racist view but it isn't, this is self preservation of our indigneous society, the people who fought in the war and the people who are proud to live here.

The radicals and their motley people are literally laughing at us as a Nation. They think we're dogs and their actions are teh acts of madness and depravity.

They can see the pain that this act and the others that are happening to our lads in Hellmund has caused. We need to stem the flow and take a hardcore approach.

Don't hate Muslims because that's what they want. Don't support the BNP because their views are as radical as the terrorists, but do carry on believing in this great nation and as our grandparents and their parents did before them, never give up.

Fight with your mind and not your fists and with time and care these scum within our society will eventually be removed. 2009 Vogue TDV8 Nara Bronze
