Siemens phone

Does anyone know if my car phone which was fitted as a factory extra can be made to work with a SIM card?

There was an old sim attached to the credit card size insert when I bought the car so this morning I removed the sim and cello taped my own sim where the old one had been within the card and slotted this in hoping that this would work.

Obviously it doesn't but I'm also wondering whether I would need any as you go SIM card. The one I inserted is from my own Vodafone tariff.

The card I removed was an O2 pay as you go.

I'm sure someone on here will know the answer and before anyone suggests converting to blue tooth I would rather try this option first.

It should work on both Vodaphone & O2... What's the red light doing? Have you read the handbook? Whistle

The red light is flashing and it says emergency calls only...

Yes I've read the handbook but surely when the SIM card goes in shouldn't it automatically come up searching?

Yes, as long as the sim is current etc... I take it you have tried the sim in a phone and it works? Try a battery reset?

I've tried the battery reset the other day.

What I was wondering was whether my cellotaping the sim to the old card might be causing an issue as the sim maybe isn't perfectly aligned if you know what I mean?
