hi, i'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who has a l322 autobiography. he said that oneof the bulbs in his rear light unit isn't working. he tested for voltage and said there isn't any, but he also said there is no voltage on the one that is working. how can this be?

Depends as to which bulb it is, i gather its a side light? The side light bulbs do not work on 12v as they are 21w bulbs (not the usual 5w) commonly used, so the 21w bulba (usually brake, indicator or fog) are fed with approx 3-5v to get the same brightness...

He needs to swap the good bulb with the bad first...

afaik the lights work via a pulse signal that 'switchs' on the 12 volt supply to whatever needs the power...if no bulb fitted [blown or new] then the pulse wont supply the 12volts to it..i might be wrong though. ... - .- -.
