De-Cat or not to De-Cat

Hi all
Whats the views on De-Catting the BMW TD6?
I have done other Landies and was wondering what gains, if any of doing it
Having De-EGR'd I wonder if to De-Cat is the next step.

Be carefull with this as there are new checks in the mot to make sure any vehicle fitted with a cat from standard still has one fitted. Nicedayforit has put a post up with a link I believe stating the new mot checks

They just check to see if the box is there, not that the box is working or has any internals Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Only a light tap gaz, and if it rattles its likely U/S anyway, especially a petrol one Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

As a current MOT tester and TD6 owner I can confirm

A diesel vehicle - class IV (car upto 3000Kg) is ONLY tested on the smoke emmitted from the tailpipe

There is not statutory requirement for any kind of catalytic convertor or DPF to be fitted

BUT (there is always a but)

If you remove a Cat or DPF from a post 2008 vehicle and the emmissions are above the maximum allowed then it WILL fail the MOT - the fail is the emmission level and NOT the fact the cat/DPF has been removed
