when the car was made it was made along with 4 transponder codes, 1.2.3.and 4 most cases you will get 1 and 2 with the car, now if you loose number 1 they will supply you with number 3, as this is safe.
if ask for a replacement number 1 key and end up with 2 number 1's only one will work as the programming will kill the first number 1 key.

so heres the catch, you will have to pay up front for the key, they cant tell you what key you have..so unless you are sure what number you need you could end up with 2 number 2 key's and only one will work, the dealers wont give you a refund... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Thanks for the info on this forum.... I was just about to sign the deal for my FFRR, and just by chance I wanted to check some cosmetic work they had done before I signed... Good Job because when the sales person handed me the key, there was only one on the fob....
On being part of this forum and checking the dos and don'ts it looks like I have saved myself a fortune by not having to get a new Key from LR dealer.
I wonder if the garage know the cost they have agreed to.. That will be Monday when I ring for a price and then let them know - I hope they are sitting down -- Thanks again..

i can write new keys for the pre face lift cars. any thing can be done if you look hard enough, i was not going to pay 250 plus for a dealer to do it... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
