Fridge freezer acting up

Gents,
My AEG fridge freezer has just started to Censored up. The fridge side works fine but the freezer has started to warm up. I cant see anything obvious but looks can be deceiving. Should both compressors be hot/warm? Any help would be great as don't really want to be spending loads on a new unit. How much do engineers cost to look at the Censored thing? Can i run the fridge with a knackered freezer? [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

At first I thought it needed a new battery. Rolling with laughter [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Is it definitely split into 2 systems?

If so then it could be just a case of either the gas leaking out or the pump failing. There are some simple electronics in it which can be tested by using the temp control and forcing it to maximum or super freeze some call it, that should make it run almost all the time to cool the unit.

Engineer prices vary but you will likely have a call out charge and then labour charge then parts charge Sad

Have you googled the model number at all?? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Yep googled and not really revealed anything. I think it's 2 systems as it has to black bballs at the back. Assuming one is the compressor for the freezer and the other compressor for the fridge. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

What I would do:

Suspect thermostat or compressor PTC.
Switch off for 1/2 hour. Set thermostat to coldest setting. Monitor the compressor motor voltage (if you are confident with that). Switch on. Is there power to the motor?

If no power to motor then electrical fault - I have had both thermostat and PTC fauls (refer to youtube).

If power to the motor and no start could be starter Cap but if not then this is going to need a 'fridge person.

Sit Rep: freezer defrosted and fired back up. Compressor is running and cooling. Started at +20C and was falling quite quickly when I left to come out. Will see what's happened when I get home. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Yeah just drill 2 holes from the fridge into the freezer about 50mm in size maybe 100mm one near the side, one in the centre and then you have even more beer storage space or white wine if you like that kind of plonk Smile

Or for me it would just be full of deserts Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
