That would depend on the age TBH.

If its 2010 + arent they keyless?

Not being funny but the same could also happen to the other keyless entries in the LR range as the keys are all pretty much the same. Sorry fobs!

There is only 3 tools IIRC that can do this. BBS faultmate, Testbook/SDD, and Autologic so could be easy to track them down if you knew what device they were using as only a handful would be MV licenced in non dealer hands unless the unit itself was stolen but then where would the keys be coming from bar dodgeys on ebay... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

this is very much like the BMW scare recently where they could [apparently] code new keys.. ... - .- -.

Thing is though that they could code the new keys and very quickly without the alarm going off so 1 and some 3 series were going bye bye! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Certainly now worry for anybody that uses key in the ignition as the thief could not possibly have the right key to fit the physical ignition lock coded or otherwise. Neutral

^^^^ again thats not a hard one to do either if you know someone at a dealer willing to take a big bung...

Or someone who works there and orders up a good load of keys and then vanishes.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

With the right tool its as simple as they make out and shocking how easy it was done.

From what i have heard from local DC's they end up stripping the cars most of the time as its easier to flog the parts on in mainland Europe with no way to track them mostly other than engines and shells and found one place melting the shells down into big ruddy blocks for weighing in! Exporting whole cars was still happening but not as much for them unless it was an 1M as they weren't worth the money in other countries for the effort. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
