Rear Multimedia Issues.......

Hi,

I'm trying to understand why the Alpine DVD system has now stopped working ( in a 2004 Autobiography ). After playing around with the system I now get the bleep from the rear of the car when you push the power on button, but no Alpine screen graphics on any of the screens and no disc playback.

There is power to the Alpine DVD unit as this completes the initial disc check, however unable to play or change discs. Have tried the obvious like changing the remote batteries and checking the discs. But still no luck.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Daveo, yup that's the one. Same Alpine changer and remote. Power to the unit OK, but no Alpine Spash screen when the unit powers up.....

All worked great for years until now.....

Any ideas ? 2005 Audi A8 W12

hi, when you put the cartridge in it goes through the sequence of looking at all the discs, do you have any of the lights on, if no, how do you turn your unit on, do you hold the button down for more then 5 seconds and then the unit comes on. do you have the same screens as me

Thanks Daveo,

Yes same screens and setup. Normally, I would just engage the power button on the ceiling console, the bleep would sound and the Alpine flash screens would appear and the film would just start. From here you could change/pause or revert to the menu via the remote.

it sounds very similar to what happened to my one, for what reason i dont know but now to turn it on i have to hold down the blue band button for 5 or more seconds, right lets start again ..when you push the button at the front you will get a beep, and the screens should come on, you shoud be able to watch tv... does this happen! V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Daveo, Its offical.... I am a muppet.

Having just returned from holiday I remember that the dealer fitted a new battery which obviously powered off the DVD changer. By pressing the 'Power On' button on the remote simply does what it says !

Please can I seek forgiveness and please don't banish me to any RRS Forums Bow down 2005 Audi A8 W12

hi, that's good news. i spent ages trying to find out why my one did the same, phoned alpine, was about as much help as a chocolate fire guard. tested every thing and came down to the changer..even my local audio shop had no idea..until a chap in sainsburys car park told me he had the same thing.......bingo i had the answer, and it worked. now i pass my wisdom on to you, keep it safe until its needed by some one else.
