Diagnostic Tools for L322 02

Newbie post so applogies for any duplication.
Also newbie owner of L322 02 4.4 and aware of the potential issues of EAS etc but hoping the cost doesnt become too onerous and I can do some of the basic mainteance myself. With this in mind I have been through many of the reviews and posts on this forum and others but wondered if any else has advice and the best of the device below:-

GAP IID Tool
Bearmach Hawkeye
RSw All Comms
Bridpart Lynx Diagnostics

All are between £200 to £300

I appreciate (may be /may be not) the basic differences and since my display has a few pixel missing I am wary of using the IID tools and also prefer the idea of a clearer display a laptop offers. MY immediate needs are for reading/clearing faults codes and later to calibrate suspension and change some of the defaults as I when I become aware of them.

Thanks for any advice offered.

Hi Mark
I bought a RSW EAS reset tool (just before the all comms came out), and wouldn't leave home without it. The EAS frequently shuts down seemingly for no reason. Although I have replaced both front air bags, the compressor (the one I replaced was a replacement), had to weld a hole in the reservoir, replaced the center valve block and the front balance valve. The front valve block was leaking out of the electrical cable, this was a pig to find, which I've now fixed and i didn't need to change the center block.

But the reset tool is worth is weight in gold.

yorks Do I really have time to tinker with one of these

IIDTool unless you plan on keeping a laptop in the car as you can guarantee you'll need a fault clearing while you are miles away from home.

Just need to get your pixels fixed tho.

+1 for the IIDtool. For a few reasons: it is small, really small. No cables, no additional plugs. Fantastic feature set. If you don't get stuck then you are not trying hard enough.

I would say the IID as well and I had the RAC. Nice and cheap but needing a laptop and te restrictions it has would send me down the IID route even with crap pixels. Spend an extra £100 and get your pixels fixed and jobs a gooden. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

By the way, most of the menus scroll when using the IIDTool so you'll be able to work out what it says unless the display is badly knackered.

Thanks for all the replies.

Can you down load a history of fault codes from any of these devices?

Rob2529 - any pointers to where to get the pixels fixed and how it's done, I presume it is a dashboard removal?

Thanks again.

The BBS MSV2 is a great tool and while for the nano version you need to have a laptop, the extreme edition for a few more quid has a dedicated built in UI for checking and clearing faults on the road.

Its horses for course and i love my MSV2 now Smile Dont get me wrong its far from cheap but does a hell of a lot for it! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

just looking into getting a diag tool myself and wondering if there are any further thoughts to add to the options here from 2013?

IID tool seems the most popular? Cheers

James

This current thread might give you some ideas.

I opted for the Bluetooth version and would thoroughly recommend it. IMO definitely worth the extra. John

Using both versions (the older classic and the Bluetooth one), I can highly recommend the BT version, bearing in mind the Classic is already excellent to start with.

Fantastic tool either way Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l
