Rear Washer not washing!

As per the title my rear washer is not spraying out onto the window - the wiper works fine. Am I missing something stupid here like a separate bottle for the rear? Bit worried that a pipe may be disconnected and Censored out water into a place it's not meant to be going...... FTR the front washers and headlight washers all work great.

Any suggestions at all....

Many thanks

just done this, very easy...start by taking of the cover inside the tail gate,it covers the wiper motor.. you will see the water feed connecting to the wiper motor, in that short length of black pipe there will be a small one way filter. check there first, disconnect and see if you are getting water upto the filter, run it for a while to clear the line, clean or replace the filter, remove the pipe from the base or the wiper to make sure you are now getting water to wiper, if you are but still not out if the wiper arm you will have to go to the next step...

you need to clear out the wiper arm cap but you can not remove it unless you remove the tailgate spoiler, 3 bolts from in side the tail gate and it slides forward and unclips, put a towl across the roof and move it back.
you now can remove the wiper arm, test it and with the cap removed you should get a jet of water shooting out, if not then get a long thin wire and push it down the center hole to clear and test, if all is good then clean and replace the cap. job done Thumbs Up

if you find that you cant clear the center shaft you will have to remove the wiper and then the motor and clear it

Mine isn't spraying water - I can hear the motor run when I push on the stalk, but it doesn't run continuously. More an intermittent sound of the motor running. Front works fine though.

I've just done the "clean-out" process described by daveo above and found the wiper arm feed blocked with crap. After cleaning it out I put a bucket under the pipe and tested the water flow before putting it all back together, but even now, it takes a while for the water to eventually come through. But at least it works! Cheers

noddy, the rear washer does not run all the time, whn you push the stalk the wiper starts ans you will get 3 bursts of the water pump about a second apart. follow step 1 and disconnect at the filter ti see if you get a flow of water,if not you neen to back to the washer bottle.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

check the one way valve, thats put there to stop the water drainig back and doing what you discribe, you should only be able to suck or blow one way, there is a direction of flow on the filter V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

I've been through this process too.

Had the motor noise but no water.

Having taken everything to pieces and cleared out all the pipes etc, I had water flowing through the pump to the wiper, but still none was making it on to the rear windscreen.

Turned out that I just needed a long thin sewing needle held in a pair of pliers to clean out the jet nozzles. Whistle Embarassed

I replaced the non return valve but it still takes a few wipes of the wiper before any fluid reaches the rear window. After i've used it a couple of times it's then instant..... Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

I carefully removed the black plastic cap which houses the washer jets.
I then cleaned out the jets with a needle as described above. If you carefully select the needle size you can push it through the jet and can see it on the inside of the plastic housing, I did this along with checking the flow through the one-way valve and now all is well.
I think the idea of the three timed bursts is to disperse the water across more of the rear screen.
Had it, loved it!

One Way Valve

This is a guess around the one way valve... but I reckon you will be able to get something that is comparable to anything that a dealer would give you from an aquatics store... or a quick search on ebay reveals a lot....

Same issue. Jets in wiper arm clogged and rusted so I bought new arm and did clean out. All working now. Be careful when you take wiper arm off as small plastic piece that goes from water feed to wiper arm pings off and disappears into the great hole all small things go to.

FWIW I have a spare new wiper arm in garage as accidentally ordered 2 when 1st transaction seemed to have failed !!! PM me if anybody wants it.
