Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black
2007 Supercharged - Steering - Low speed turn vibration

Hi (me again!),

Not sure if if it's a quirk of these cars or if it's the servotronic valve/ some issue lurking.

As I gingerly (continuing my driving like Miss Daisy theme) drive this car on very short journeys, I notice that when turning left or right at 10mph or less, whilst the power steering is obviously working, there seems to be some slight resistance flirting in and out of feeling like resistance then lightening up and so on.. it's just the slightest of vibration almost like a notchy/ bobbly feeling when I turn the steering wheel as the car is in motion.

This is day 4/ approx 300 miles into my ownership of a car bought from a LR UK dealership and it comes with a 12 month LR warranty (selling garage is a 5 hour drive away).

I kid you not, the slow speeds and care I have driven the thing with since collecting it is embarassing given that it is a S/C... Not bounced it off a kerb, not been over a rut or pot hole or had it over 65 mph yet... it has spent more time resting in my garage that seeing daylight so it is nothing I've done.

If it is something in need of rectification, am wondering how, if a mere layman like me has quickly picked up on it, why the pre sale inspection technicians did not...

Can anyone give a view please/ thanks?

Mine did this when I bought it a year ago and I suspected the sevotronic valve , but it has either gone away or I just don't notice it any more . Either way it hasn't got worse (yet ). 2008 MY Supercharged

It could also be a dry UJ on the steering column, in the engine bay.
Just coat the UJ with something like 3-in1 and move the steering wheel from full lock to full lock a couple of times and it should improve, if it's the UJ. Wink

It looks something like this:

This is only the Universal Joint, it will be part of the steering column and I think there's one UJ in the drivers footwell, just before it goes through the bulkhead, and another in the engine bay.
