Out of curiosity I checked the GPS info screen while in the under ground car park at work. Still lists satellites with their positions. Can only assume that satellite ids andtheir Geo stationary position is in the software and isn't picked up from the aerial.

Cached positions from the last time it saw them? GPS signal won't reliably make it through a concrete underground carpark... Graham

Thanks Stan - 753 Code worked... zero signal so put it down to the aerial... new one on order, by the power of ebay... will report back. Range Rover - Supercharged - On the drive.

Same happened to me. Used the 753 hack to show that there was no signal. Antenna replaced and all is good.

Where did you get your antenna from Paul? I've pm'd duckworths but not heard anything back yet.

Had it done at the local main dealer, ISTR about £200-250 fitted, possibly less.

Antenna is around £50, fitting is pretty straight forward

I have now resolved my SatNav GPS red cross... and here's how.

First off this needs some minor trim removal, 10mm Spanner and precision screwdriver set with star bits. Along with some very basic crimp requirements.

1. Remove the rear plastic pillars that house the rear speakers.
2. Pull the roof trim down, there is a central clip so mild force is needed.
3. Once you have the roof lining down, you will be able to access the bolts that hold the aerial casing in place.
4. You need to remove both bolts, to be able to remove the casing that contains the GPS unit.
5. Once the two bolts are removed the metal plate will come free.
6. You can now push the aerial casing free of the roof, although you will need to squeeze two small clips that retain the casing where the cables go into the aerial casing, within the roof lining.
7. Once you can access the aerial casing, undo the series of screws on the unit.
8. This reveals two antenna, the one to the rear is the TMS and the smaller unit is the GPS.
9. You can now either remove the faulty GPS or simply place your new unit over it.
10. Some very basic cable tracing back to the join within the roof lining allows you to connect your new GPS unit... although you will need to remove the connector that is attached and re join as it needs to pass through the aerial casing.
11. Put it all together.
12. Check your GPS and all should be good.

This was easier than expected, once I had realised I didn't need to take all the trim off the side area that houses the DVD / Sat Nav etc...

This isn't the easiest job as you need to be able to get good access on to the rood of the car and reach a fair way into the roof lining, so I guess it might not be for everyone.

Yip. There was no obvious damage or water ingress to my antenna. Nor could i see any obvious damage to the cable\connectors. TBH as the replacement was only 8 quid i didnt look too hard
