Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black
My 2006 4.2 Supercharged Java Black adventure(literally)

Well it's been 2 months down the road since I have owned the FF. Trouble free 4,000 km travelled so far into towns, high speed highways run and travelled up into the highlands. Of course the usual electrical gremlins is there but nothing bothersome or worrying so far. Consumption is okay considering the weight and performance.

I thought of creating a blog to document on my adventures with the FF but after a thought think this is the better place to share my adventure. At least a friendly advice if needed is never too far Very Happy

Here she is at one of the car grooming centre. Didn't like it too much coz the soap they use is too sharp/rough and alot of swirl marks and scratches was introduced in the cleaning process. Before this I washed the car on my own using proper detailers products and methods Cool

One thing I noticed after I got the car was the reverse camera was on its way to being kaput. Lines starts appearing on the screen and the image quality is what somewhat poor. Recently the screen turned blanked(black) so upon researching found out the usual culprit was the camera assy. Didn't fancy replacing with LR one due to price and inherent design failures, so decided to swapped it with a much better more reliable aftermarket Alpine camera. The model recommended by the shop was Alpine HCE-C115. Here is the link if anyone interested. ttp://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/hce-c115/

Been driving around for few days and so far no error code Very Happy . At night/low light visibility is really good and much improved than the original. Here's some of the photos

W.I.P. Not really a DIY person so I will just leave it to the experts.

View at the screen. Note the road is dark and not lit. Reverse gear engaged.

Actual view of street. Taken with flash ON using samsung salaxy note2 phone. Street is dark and not lit fyi

hoped ya guys enjoyed my post. I will take the pic of the alpine camera assy sitting in the original housing and the picture quality during daytime(in case you're curious). To be continued.... Very Happy 2006 4.2 Supercharged Java Black - loving it every moment behind the wheel even at 14 mpg!

indeed it's expensive in direct comparison to the UK prices. I paid mine a 2006 UK parallel imports with taxes and everything approx £50k maybe. Anyway for any cars purchase price here in Malaysia is expensive(practically double or triple whatever you normally pay for a new car in UK) but the good thing is in term of maintaining it quite cheap. In comparison to replace the reverse camera all inclusive cost me approx £250.

The L405 was officially launched today and the 5.0 Supercharged version retails at RM1.1 million, approx £235k price excluding insurance and roadtax. Evil or Very Mad 2006 4.2 Supercharged Java Black - loving it every moment behind the wheel even at 14 mpg!

the alpine camera sitting in the original housing. Took abit of creative fillers to fill up the spot and make it solid as the camera assy is smaller

Alpine's daytime picture quality. Was expecting better but if you've seen how tiny the pinhole size of the camera lens and considering its CCD size its quite impressive actually. Just came back from viewing the L405 and was impressed. At least I know 5 years from now on what car I'm gonna trade the current FF with Laughing

An event waiting to happen... when it comes to cracked windscreen. Just so happen my luck after just 2 months having the FF, one fine day while exiting a highway interchange out of nowhere a stone hit my windscreen and needless to say within hours(whatsmore with our temp here averaging 35c) a full length crack developed which warrants immediate replacement. Thank God the windscreen was insured for a good £1200.

Nice view of the crack from the cockpit

Windscreen removed. Needless to say the fella was sweating like hell removing all the trims and cutting the sealant

New windscreen assembly. Took them a day to order it.

The hardest part of the job. 5 guys to bring up and positioned the bloody heavy new windscreen. Laughing

The windscreen sealant needs to be cured for 24 hours at least before I can put the security/privacy tint at the windscreen. That hopefully will happen tomorrow if I'm not too busy with work Smile 2006 4.2 Supercharged Java Black - loving it every moment behind the wheel even at 14 mpg!

I had this happen to one of my cars years ago. Happened again after two months with the new windscreen. This time the crack was all along the bottom of the windscreen and since it was an old car, I just left it there. Had the car for years without issues. It happened on a very cold winter day, so also a lot of heat stress on the windscreen.

Hope this was the last time for you Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

Had a good run since April and 2 oil changes(changed them at 10k km interval). No problem whatsoever runs beautifully on daily basis. Covered a total of 17,000 kms so far and yesterday coming back from dinner a SUSPENSION FAULT msg came up. With the engine running from the outside I can hear a whooshing/hissing air noise from front RH side and I knew exactly what's wrong. Car was sent today to a local indie specialist and let see the damage shall we. The garage will do a thorough check whether it's the air line or the absorber bellow, but I am betting it's the bellow. The LH side front absorber will be inspected as well and changed just to save any future troubles. The car also previously has twiced a REDUCED ENGINE PERFORMANCE msg(it was a hot day and I was really working out the supercharger and engine) and since my VIN is affected, I am asking the garage the check on the supercharged aux cooling pump wiring and replaced the pump as well as recommended in the TSB.

Just wondering if the absorber is premature failure at 70k km but judging by the year(mine a 2006) it should be right. Still loves every moment behind the wheel to this day though Very Happy 2006 4.2 Supercharged Java Black - loving it every moment behind the wheel even at 14 mpg!
