I imagine it highly unlikely that anyone on here has experience of both maps but I thought I would ask the question.

Is the extra MPG you get from an economy map worth the difference in power?

Alternatively, is the extra MPG so slight you might as well have the extra umph?

IMHO it's all bull i have driven them both & my impression is the more power you get, the better fuel economy if you drive at the same pace as before your remap... Stands to reason...

Remaps in general i would presume, else he would have named one...

i had an eco remap done and it was a waste of time ..the first 10 days or so there 'seemed' to be an improvement [on the obc anyway] but after that it settled down to what it was before the map....
the best thing i did to get better mpg was the egr blank. ... - .- -.

I got Superchips - more diesel in, more power out - simples. If you drive like the vicar - don't bother as consumption stays pretty much the same and you don't use the power, in fact I shouldn't have bothered, although I do like the effortless extra power on tap from time to time

Also if you're thinking economy - you get a lot of fuel for the £400 plus that a decent remap will cost  Geoff

apologies, I was more speaking in general terms as i assumed that the difference between the more reputable remaps would be negligible.

Equally I assumed that the eco maps would have similar parameters tweaked to boost mpg at the expense of absolute power and torque. If these are just a turned down version of the full remap then I might as well have that. I Naively assumed that they were doing some clever stuff to for the eco maps.


EGR blanking kit, PCV breather assembly+filter and a new air filter were ordered yesterday. I'll do these first see what happens.

afaik there are two types of remapping, gearbox and engine...the gearbox one for eco makes the box change to a higher gear sooner so it results in less fuel used and the engine remap pushes more fuel into the engine ..
maybe an expert can confirm or dismiss my theories.. ... - .- -.

Didn't know you could get a gearbox remap - I do often find in manual or sport or whatever it's called you can easily select a higher gear and the car seems fine with it. Geoff

Reckon they call it command shift or some thing like that.

I do the same, at 30 you can knock it into 5th and sit at tickover whereas D seems to keep it in 4th around the 1600rpm mark.

what about a map for the 4.4 petrol, i was told that you dont get that much out of a petrol but my mates 4.4 was done when he bought it and it use to leave my car standing, it was alot faster then my 4,4 and there was only a year apart. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.
