United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Buckingham Blue
New Member and Owner

Hi All,

Been a lurker on here and Disco3 for a little while now, doing my research before buying my first FFRR or a D3. Ended up going the FFRR route and picked it up on Wednesday morning. I now see what everyone has been raving about  Already I don’t care that the mpg readout only shows 23mpg or that the tesco pump stopped before the tank was full, it’s definitely worth it to waft around in that much comfort.

55 plate Vogue TD6 Facelift
86k miles with full specialist or Landrover history
Dark blue, almost black (need to find out the proper name). With Cream leather interior.
22” Overfinch alloys (undecided on these as they look massive)
Supercharged Grills front and sides.

I’ve only done about 100 miles so far but already I could do with some help. I’ve tried searching but cant find answers to the following:

Sat-Nav: has a red cross through the “GPS” square in the top corner, and its displaying my position in a field in north Yorkshire. I have a 2011\2012 disk on the way to see if this improves things. I’ve downloaded the PDF for the diagnostics but no matter how long I press on the nav screen it doesn’t do anything. Do I need to have the ignition at a certain position before I press?

Venture cam: It has a venture cam which turns on. The button flashes green and another press illuminates the red led’s around the camera, however the dash screen shows no camera on channel 4. Do I need to pair this or reset it in anyway?

Upgrades\Mods\maintenance I’m planning:
I’m a huge fan of preventative maintenance and improvements. The reading I’ve done on this forum has left me with something of a shopping list.

BAS Remap: Sat Nav thinks I’m in yorkshire so may as well head there I’ll be arranging a remap once I get paid and convince the wife. Probably an economy map (if they do such a thing) as it isn’t a car I’ll really throw around, have the TVR for that.

Gearbox remap: I read a thread about a German company that adjusts the ECU to lockup the torque convertor earlier to improve efficiency and reduce strain. Has anyone ran this for any length of time and is it a worthwhile mod?

EGR bypass: I do this on every diesel I own (where possible) though I am slightly concerned that the warranty company may use it to wriggle out of a claim. Suppose I could always swap it back if I need to make a claim.

Gearbox oil and filter change: Might do this a couple of time overs the summer to change as much as possible of the oil.

Rear Arch RRS rubber strips: looks like mine already has some rubber around the outer edge of the arch. I’ll post up a pic. However, just inside of this there is another bit of metal which is starting to show some rust. Having a TVR I’m well versed in chassis maintenance so should have this covered.

Oil Filter Service and 4 wheel alignment a specialist: More too keep the warranty company happy as I like to do my own maintenance.

Rest of service items to bottom it: Remaining filter changes as well as diff and transfer oil done by me.

Bluetooth Upgrade: going to double check my part number and order one from wigs.

Bit of a mammoth first post, if anyone can be bothered to read it I would appreciate your comments on my issues and plans.

Thanks
Pete

Welcome. Your blue should be Buckingham Blue.

The plans all sound very sensible to me. With something as complicated as an FFRR you can't go wrong giving it regular TLC I reckon.

Enjoy the ride Smile Lloyd Barnes
