Looking at RAVE (and although it is not clear if the side panels are joined at one end, e.g. its all one piece), it looks like you will have to do most of the work of completely removing the console before you could get at the fixings that hold the side panels in place, so reckon that complete removal will be as easy or easier than trying to get the side panels off. That said, whether you can still do what you want to do with the console out of the way ? .

thanks, it appears that the console is ifxed right at the front, i have removed most of the fixings and the console pivets forward ,lifting from the back, i can get it to about 45 degrees forward but still cant get the front to unclip, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

It's been a long time since I did this, but IIRC the console is screwed to the center dash panel. Remove this (screwed to the dash cross bar or middle dash pad by removing the 2 center facias (EAS & climate control)) and you should get to all.
