Air suspension compressor - replace or repair?

Classic fault message "air suspension inactive"...still need to diagnose this as it only happened this morning when I went to lower the car for my mother to get in but I'm assuming the worst.

If this ends up being a compressor fault is it best to replace the entire compressor unit or to carry out the repair to the pistons?

I'm not surprised this has occurred as the suspension was quite slow the last couple of times it was lowered.

Repair it mate - much cheaper. Contact Meerbusch for a kit.

Yes. If you're fairly competent with spanners, its a doddle.

Hello mate,
For what it's worth I tried a cheap kit from eBay, as others on here have done but it did not work. It's now In the garage having a new compressor fitted.
Worth a stab at £35 but may not sort it out for you.

Go for the Meerbush kit is my recommendation. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Got the kit from Meerbusch, now working like it should. Get the kit from him before he gets sold out.

The bore of the old cylinder head was to big, in my case changing the head was needed. Changing only the piston ring wont get you far.

I just installed Meerbusch's repair kit yesterday. It's a very nice kit and only took me about 30 minutes - most of which was just taking everything apart to get to the compressor. My system works much better now. For the money, I would definitely try this repair first before investing in a new compressor. 2004 RR Westminster 4.4 V8
