Just seen the pictures of the new Sport and I have to say I prefer it to both the L405 and the Evoque.

Never thought I'd say that! Shocked

I do think the L405 has been let down by showing it in dreary colours all the time, the member on here that got a red one does look better.

I can't understand why they released the Full Fat with less tech than the Sport when they have clearly been developed side by side (e.g. head up display, lane departure warning, side parking sensors etc). I guess that they will put these things on the Full Fat next model year but this business of adding a little bit extra every model year really annoys me.

Whenever you choose to buy a RR you can guarantee that a year later it will be out of date for some reason. Most other quality manufacturers only tend to make these changes once as a midlife update.

Agreed. Gadgets on the Sport are better then FF, which is surprising but no doubt will appear shortly in the FF.
They are somewhat different but they have made them very similar. A look at the tech specs does show how close they are, same weight (RRS V8 actually heavier than FF!).
The Sport even has a marginally longer wheelbase, since they are the same width, interior space should be really close...
And the price difference is not huge, as stated about 7k like for like ish...

Sport will likely be more difficult to get in the first year with very high demand, FF seems to be on a 3-4 months lead time at my dealer where I have been on the list since Sept.

Look wise, not trying to be controversial but Sport is less bland that 405, however fine line to being a bit bling too...

Tough choice, getting the 2 wud be the easy option here, I an sure after a good session of man's math I can somehow rationalise it;)

^^ now that is silly. I don't care how clever terrain response is every LR needs one as their birthright. Was similarly disgusted at 2wd evoque

trouble is the owner demographic won't care for the most part about the lack of low-range -_-

TBH the 'one to have' is probably actually the next gen X5 40d, so much cheaper, makes so much more sense.

I used to be able to forgive LR products the high prices/reliability etc but now they leave me pretty much cold, and they don't make sense on a purely objective level.

It is inevitable that for some the new sport will prove a better option, more so for those wanting a more dramatic look and were considering the V6 diesel. It is going to be big enough for most in the UK, and can be filled up with many options the FF has and some. (how many do you really use anyway...)

I love my FF, really do, but I am sure I would not be short changed by the Sport, as it is offering much the same experience in different clothes.

Whilst I would not change my choice, I think many will, and LR have created an own goal by not keeping the FF differentiated more from the Sport.

Of course, some, like Clarkson will call it the poor mans FF, much as he describes a B(C)oxster owner when they pull up to the lights next to a 911.

I am sure road tests will sugggest that for the vast majority (looks aside) the new Sport offers all you could want in a Range Rover, and for 15k less than an FF.

From what i have seen and been told the SDV8 will appear in the RRS in 2014 at some stage maybe when the new engine get's produced at its new engine plant in the midlands which opens this year.

I think they will be quite different cars both to drive and to be seen in , really looks like a battle against the BMW and the newer model Porsche which there is big demand for. Non of which go up against the FF. Far to many gone...
