Just a quick update, done a few hundred miles now and the no dreaded EAS fault as yet, this is the longest I have gone without the 'air suspension inactive' message.

Seems to be doing the job thus far.

I think ou will be surprised how long it lasts. I stripped mine and sanded the sealing face on my old ring and applied some vac grease and mine was still going strong before I sold it so was ok for about 8months. You have new piston rings so I guess will last even longer! [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Okay my piston ring arrived this morning,so went and fitted it,it was simple after reading this thread , and the only problem i would of had is removing the clam shell.

And after fitting i am now reaching off rd height easily, whereas it struggled before,so thanks guys and fingers crossed.

Cheers Piers

I had a height issue (front way to high, back a little high) but could not re calibrate with RSW all comms due to the lazy pump, now since the new piston ring I have successfully re calibrated and all is working perfectly!

Hi mate, I'm just about to do exactly the same job.
Could you please tell me:
How did you disconnect the air hose to the compressor from the coupling/union t-piece that it goes to. Does it just pull out?
And, did you have to get the error message on the dash reset after?

Thanks.

Hi,

All you have to do is push the brass\steel part down and pull the pipe out.

I did, I have the RSW all comms to do resets, good bit of kit worth buying.

Hello again mate.
just fitted the kit today and dried out the air drier, cleaned the springs up etc.
Put it all back together and... nothing.
When i started it up i expected to hear the compressor and be able to adjust the height but nothing, it's exactly the same as it was.
Do i need the do a battery re-set?

Thanks.

Afternoon,

What error have you got?

If the system is inactive you'll need a reset.

If I'm not mistaken, to avoid any problems with fault codes when working on the compressor it is advisable to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the power to the compressor.
When the compressor is reconnected, reconnect the battery and move the steering fully lock to lock.

I didnt personally do that and had no issues (I did do a reset with RSW prior), but it seems like a sensible precaution.

Gents,
Thanks for the quick replys.
The error i have got is the inactive message on the dash. I had the codes read at an indy who confirmed it was the compressor.
I wasn't sure from the jist of the posts if using the repair kit would make the system operable or would i need to have it reset and code cleared to make it work.
So will book it in hopefully it will have done the trick.

I didn't disconnect battery as reading other posts it didn't seem needed.

I was just a bit surprised that the compressor didn't react at all when i turned the car back on.

Many thanks.

Have you disconnected the battery, leave it 15 mins, then reconnect and move to wheel from lock to lock a few times as previously suggested?

If that doesnt work you may need to have the fault cleared before it will fire up again.
