United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Santorini Black
Hello

Hi, been lurking on this site for a couple of weeks some very useful information. We are moving to Australia in about 18 months, I was considering buying a Land Rover to take with me, I need to own it for at least a year prior to going so looking at buying before September. I did post on Landyzone and a few recommended the disco but I've decided on a range rover, I went for a test drive in one last week and I'm convinced.

So on deciding a range rover was for me I've been looking at the options, I have a budget around 16k and was originally looking at the 2005/6 TD6 but I'm now leaning towards a 2006 AJV8 or SC, it won't be used a great deal here probably only do 150 miles/ week and 130 of that will be motorway, and fuel prices in Oz are a lot less relative to income so benefits of a diesel are not as great plus resale in Oz, most cars are Petrol.

Anyway as the time gets nearer to making a purchase I'll probably have a fair few questions but for now it's just hello
Thanks
Rob

If your going for OZ get the best SC you can afford with the most toys and history possible. Don't go for an outlandish trim inside if you plan to sell on once in oz, something nice and light should suffice and go for a lighter colour if your in the hotter parts Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

I swapped my TD6 for a SC for precisely the same reasons and will be moving over in June .
One of the disadvantages of having a desisel in Oz is that the servo's or petrol stations to us pons usually have the oily stuff round the side or back but large desisels are becoming more popular but come on which would you rather drive ? 2008 MY Supercharged

I'm sure there were options that could still be checked.. IE different wheels, FBH.....

There's lots of things if you look hard enough Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

None that I have seen why would anybody change one of the main factors (upgrade over other models) that identifies the car as a range topping Supercharged.

I have bought many and they are all identical.

United Kingdom

i would identify a s/c as having s/c wheels , s/c grill and side vents and the standard rse..

Will, are there more options then ? ... - .- -.

Thanks for the replies, so it would appear the SC spec in a light colour in the best condition I can afford would be the best option considering

1. Will be used very little in the UK (150 miles per week tops)
2. Will be going to Oz in 18 months
3. Oz fuel currently about 1/2 the cost relative to income
4. Petrol cars more common and desirable in Oz
5. In terms of cost of car here, o a scale of mst expensive first am I right in TDV8, SC, AJV8, TD6
6. Most to least reliable, best first TDV8 or SC, AJV8 then TD6?

That depends, looking at figures even taking into account transport costs, taxes, registration etc.. There is profit to be made if you wanted too, I suppose I'm using it as insurance.....the exchange rate is rubbish at the moment and unlikely to get back to the £1:$2.5 anytime soon so moving equity to Oz isn't ideal, however if purchase something in the UK that is less expensive than in Oz when/if I sell in Oz I get a good exchange rate I.e buy car for £15k, cost to 7k to take at today's exchange rate that's $32k it's safe to say a good Range rover 06 model is worth $40k at least, I get £1:$2

Is that reliability or cost to buy?
Cheers

Cost to buy but SC & Vogue SE TD6 are similar prices.
