False Fuel Reading caused wife very scary moment !

Good Morning all,
First post and would very much appreciate some feedback. My wife was travelling back from work at 70+ on a busy dual carriageway last week when our TDV8 Vogue SE ( 57 plate only 30,000 mls purchased from a main dealer a few months ago ) completely died on her . With no pas and assisted braking she struggled to bring it to a halt as you can imagine and was stranded in a dangerous road position.
Car showed just under half a tank of fuel still ! ( we both use the car so it is not easy to know when the last fill up was and you should be able to rely on a fuel gauge within reason )

Car was recovered to main dealer and faulty fuel senders were diagnosed and replaced under used warranty. Talking to the LR tech he mentioned this was not uncommon ! Have any others expereinced this and why have LR not performed a recall / safety action bulletin ?

Are the replacement senders different and has anyone experienced another failure since fitment of replacements ?

I just want to reassure the wife that this will not happen again .

Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

James[/b][/b]

A friend of mine had his fail on a Freelander 2, very early in its life.
If you want to re-assure your wife, make a habit of resetting the trip each time you fill up?
At least then if your fuel gauge shows half full and you've travelled 400 miles you know something's wrong.
You can also use this to give you a really accurate MPG figure, if that interests you.
Had it, loved it!
