United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover SE Td6 Zermatt Silver

There are many cars at silly prices at the moment so I guess it a Winter Hangover. Its easy to just check CAP and ignore those that are overpriced and beware of those that are under-priced. Dealers should know there Onions and proper cars should be priced correctly based on CAP.

Was a decent offer but it dawned on me that i wouldn't get any better without spending a LOT more!.Spent a couple of weeks looking at other makes i could get for £12k (even upto £15k) and absolutely nothing jumped out at me!. The trouble with owning a nice FFRR is that all other cars seem "ordinary" in comparison Thumbs Up

Had a chat with the seller of the car above today.

Sounds pretty good. Unfortunately it is an 06 so attracts the higher tax, and this is due along with the MOT at the beginning of May. Still that should give some room for discussion on the asking price.

Details I got as follows:
Independent FSH from land rover specialist in Rotherham
No gearbox issues yet - might be a bad thing at 76000 miles
No tow hitch - were electrics fitted as standard?
No parking heater
All electrics work
Hasn't had the diff recall - apprently didn't need it

I've the VIN and V5 numbers and have run an MOT check:
No advisories on last check and previous ones have been for light alignment and tyre depth.
Mileage over the years:
09 - 28k
10 - 40k
11 - 62k
12 - 71k

So a fair jump in mileage between 09-10. But it's pretty average overall.

I'm going to give LR a call and check for any warranty work or outstanding recalls, also going to give the specialist a bell and see if they can tell me anything.

HPI will be done as well.

Anything else people can think of at present - is an RAC/AA inspection worth it? Current cars:

How about this one ? :

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...ft/1179265

I think I've mentioned this before, but personally I don't reckon any Td6 is worth paying £470 a year to tax - it doesn't make sense to buy one with that yearly expense when you could get an identical car which costs £200 less . . you could get a high mileage Tdv8 instead !

Ref the diff recall - if it does need one, LR will not pay out now for the work. As you've said, call LR with the VIN to check.

Ref the AA/RAC check - not worth a penny. I enquired about a car whose owner e mailed me a copy of such a report carried out pre sale. It was like reading something a child had written, with lots of "couldn't check because of blah blah blah" - obviously there are lots of things to check !

Ref tow hitch - electrics not fitted as standard, that's not to say the car previously had a hitch and the electrics are still there though.

All Td6 Vogue cars had park heating, so it should have the remote.

I wouldn't worry about the mileage jump so long as the car been correctly serviced.

The "usual suspects" for a car like this are (I think these are pretty universally agreed !) -
Injectors
Secondary fuel pump
Rear suspension bushes
Suspension compressor / airbags
Gearbox (!)
Transfer box motor

I had an '06 MY Td6 Vogue for 18 mths and sold it unnecessarily - still looking a replacement ! My car had an Insp 2 service carried out three months prior to me buying it which cost nearly £3k, and it was like new to drive beacuse it had all the necessary work done. I bought it from a small dealer over the phone (!), but the car was perfect as was all of it's paperwork.

Be patient and you'll get the right car . . . .

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
