Defection.....

After a couple of months searching for a tidy TDV8 FFRR within my budget I found myself in the local Mercedes dealership looking at a used ML420cdi. Apart from a 4.0l V8 diesel producing 306 bhp and 516 torques (!!!) which take it to 60 in 6.5 seconds, it has a full selection of toys and air suspension that means it "wafts" along in pretty much the same level of comfort as the RR. I appreciate it won't ultimately have the same off road ability as a FFRR but I don't need extreme capability, just the odd muddy track and snow in the winter.

Anyway, in the absence of a decent TDV8 FFRR for sub £35k, the fact that my budget won't run to a D4 and I think D3s are going to get caned for depreciation due to the desirability of the D4, after an adult lifetime of owning Land Rover products I've bought the Mercedes. So far so good, Mercedes service has been exemplary and the car is running like a dream. I hope I won't live to regret it......

What's a Mercedes? Confused

I used to notice these things on the road when I had a D3 but since getting the FFRR TDV8 I only ever see FFRR's now. Everything else just blends into the myre of Vitara/shogun/kia boxes. Whistle

Hope you enjoy it all the same. Wink The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

It's just not a Range Rover.

Each to their own though, as long as you're happy with it. I'm sure it will give you many miles of soulless motoring.

Close, but mercedes is in the 'feminine' so literal translation would be "my neighbours wifes donkey" Laughing
