Porsche cayenne

What do you guys think of the Porsche cayenne. After recently picking up my full fat I love everything about it and so now want to change the mrs car, thinking of a cayenne as my budget is circa 10k???

This uses less fuel.

I secretly quite like them.

Haha wish I did have a fat wallet! I thought I liked the c class until I got the full fat but it just disappoints me now, fancy something close to the full fat but different and I don't think the cayenne looks bad unlike others

Look at the servicing costs, that should put you off.

They make a Range Rover look cheap!

A guy I used to work with bought one for his wife to take his kid to school. I think he paid about 10k for it. It was the non-turbo V8. It guzzled fuel, like any large petrol 4x4 would. It wasn't that reliable, but he found a good indie, like any 4x4. Actually, his good indie found VW parts that were much cheaper.

In essence I took the p*ss out of him because he had a thirsty and unreliable 4x4 and he did the same to me. Petrol RR vs cayenne and there's not a lot of difference on costs probably for an old 'un at a good indie. I personally feel that if you're not doing too many miles an early turbo is a bit of a bargain at the moment.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

I had the 4.5 v8 "s" for 4 years

Lovely car. Very quick . Felt quicker than my current SC

Incredibly quick steering, you really "feel" the front wheels grip, so really inspires confidence
So much so that you throw it around . It Ate a set of 4 tyres every year !! Apparently the ones with air suspension option rather than steel springs were slightly kinder on rubber

Nice quality finish , little mean on spec compared to the FF
Everything is an option

Service intervals generous at 2 years

interior trim and bodywork wore well. Had no issues. Well screwed together. Nav a must, full leather desirable as regular dash is a little plastic. Air susp preferable ^^

Mine was a 53 plate , had minor electrical gremlins, fairly major gearbox issue that required a "valve chest" !?!
Fortunately under pork warranty

Given the fact I paid £48k, sold at £17k.... £10k ish sounds a lot of car for the money.
Buy wisely based on history , paperwork etc Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

2006 4.2 Supercharged, Java Black

Thanks for that guys, I know it will be expensive to run but so are the full fats. A big petrol ain't guna be cheap to run but offset by the low purchase price. I was just thinking if they feel as good as (or near to) the range rover

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

When doing some research into Cayennes (at the time my alternative to the FFRR, more due to availability then preference) I found that the 2004s are the ones to steer clear of. They had a higher than normal failure rate due to some cheap components.

As with any second hand car, buy on condition, try to find the best looking/maintained/cared for one even if it is a high mileage car. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks ebejema, I think I will look for a 2006, pre tax increase, closer to the summer and might manage one around my budget, unless a petrol fullfat jumps out at me! Thumbs Up
