Kenya 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black
my first FFRR

After 4 very patient months I finally found the one.... Just picked her up today and she feels great!! Thank you all on the FFRR forum for the advice and giving me faith in the car...

Brief details are MY11 4.4TDV8 Vogue, Santorini Black with Ivory Oxford and running on 19"s. Nothing added other than dualview and mudflaps but I love it!! Sticker going on tomorrow. Teaser pic below (too cold to be artistic)!!

This car needs to eventually be prepped for a life in East Africa..

Any thoughts on first few actions / mods / purchases I should be considering? Sump guard at some point I assume ..

Looking forward to a life of frequent expensive frustration Big Cry and the occasional bliss to make it all worthwhile. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Whistle

United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black

Gorgeous, I have a feeling my next one will be a black one, and hopefully a 4.4 if I can stretch to it, otherwise a 3.6 MY10 onwards.

I know you probably want to keep the 19s if you're taking it to E Africa but they look SO much better on 20s, and there's plenty of choices in the standard wheel range, always some on eBay, if not, Mick is always selling a set! Rolling with laughter

Congrats,

What you will need for East Africa :

- Sump guard
- 5/6 19''all terrains or MTR (see "For Sale" part, here on the forum)
- Service kits (x2) in advance, using ONLY LAND ROVER parts, including air filter, oil filter, diffs, autobox and T box oils + filters + bolts and gaskets, just in case (cheap anyway).

Anything else you will order when needed really, even pads and disc you would not need the next day anyway and they are not that heavy that you can not send them.

I would suggest and IID tool when this generation L322 is covered in order to read faults + raise the suspension higher than normal if necesary.

Voilà!

Enjoy! l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Good choice for Africa, everyone has got Toyota Landcruisers making them eminently nickable, whilst a FFRR will stick out like a sore thumb, so should be a safe bet. .

Kenya 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

Thanks guys.

Haven't had a chance to take the promised pictures due to weather and schedule but hope to soon.

Although the colour wasn't my first choice (Stornoway Grey), I'm really beginning to like this combo.

She's been behaving so far and the engine just brings a big FF smile. It's tempting to find any excuse to take a drive, but watching the fuel needle dip in real time isn't fun...

Joe90 - you'd be surprised at the number of FFRR on the roads in Kenya, especially with the newer facelift L322's. I won't be surprised if an L405 has already made it's way there, as it's already reached Nigeria! I'm hoping the average carjacker won't be able to figure out how to start the car, or be welcomed with the customary FFRR bings and bongs to scare the Censored out of him.

E4 Guy - will check that out - thanks for pointing it out.

Verydisco - thanks for the advice. the sump guard will be added later this year and agree with taking a few spare tires - thinking the OEM Pirelli Zero's as they've been quite good, unless anyone has better suggestions?

Service kits are definitely planned - I'm sure I'll be asking here for help to put a list together closer to the time.

Next job is getting a reasonably good cleaning kit. Recent conversations have shown some impressive detailing but I'm going to get nowhere near that. I've got Gliptone leather cleaner and condition combo with a soft brush and applicator pads ordered. Need to figure out the best shampoo/polish/clay bar/? combo for the outside for the common man? MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"
