What 4x4 would you buy ?

What would you buy if you had 8-10k to spend on a 4x4 ideally no older than 04.
Ideally diesel and cheap road tax. I keep looking at the le mans exclusive x5 Embarassed

If I hadn't gone for a FF, I'd probably have got an XC90 My plan was idiot-proof ...

I want a change from a l322. Petrol models are not for me anymore as I'm fed up pouring petrol down its neck !
Looked at the touareg and x5 and still not sure

2010 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Cairns Blue

X5 is the only other thing worth owning after the range rover products, get the best one your budget can afford, 9k will easy get a decent mileage facelift 3.0d sport. It was my second choice.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

We had an xc90 for 5 years. Fantastic workhorse .
Had every extra. All nice build quality, all interior felt solid , titanium grey metallic paint always scrubbed up well.
Huge interior space,
Not 1 issue in all the time we had it.
The diesels can be chipped? Never going to be "quick" but sounds like you are looking for sensible Rolling Eyes Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Not really sure what you expected people to reply with. Obviously a TD6 L322 for me, that said I almost bought a touareg V10 just because they are funny to drive. I then came to my senses, they are fugly after all. An X5 would never be an option unless it was a newer, higher end model. They are terrible inside and out IMO compared to the range rover.
