I bought some walking boots from Milletts 3 weeks ago for a trip to the Peak District. When I went to put them on, I noticed what seems like a blob of glue on the suede toe section, and on the side the sole was peeling. I didn't use them and yesterday I took them back.
The sales girl told me that they'd have to be sent back to the manufacturers for their opinion and that it would be them that decide whether they are classed as faulty. Apparently then, I would have to return to the shop for my refund! I wasn't happy with this and told her that my contract was with the shop, not the manufacturers. She told me to speak with the manager when he comes back off his dinner in 20 mins, so I left and walked around for a bit.
Whilst waiting, I went into Blacks. He saw my Milletts bag and asked me what I'd bought. I told him the tale and he asked for the boots. He took one look at them and refunded me!
They are both part of the same group apparently.
Why couldn't the girl in Milletts do that?
