servicing

Hi all

can anyone answer this. I have booked for a service with a main dealer with mileage on mine of around 80k.Does anyone know what will be done (A,B,or C service Oil service or inspection 1 or 2 )

The service book shows servicing done but in a random order and I cant seem to find what is done at this mileage.

Does anyone have an idea of what the service will contain and an idea of cost. i know its difficult to say but brakes and tyres are ok so I know they wont be an issue

thanks in advance

The sequence of your services will not be random, they should flow as the car requires.

The dealer will be able to tell you what service is due, but also the binnacle will say Oil Service or Inspection to give you a clue.

For my TDV8 at a main dealer I paid £320 for an oil service last time. Discovery 4 HSE

The mileage is irrelevant - it depends on usage. Not sure about later cars (what year/running gear is yours ?), but earlier ones went like this . . .
Oil
Insp 1
Oil
Insp 2
etc etc - just like BMW's - because they designed them
Jag/Ford took over so 06 onwards may be different ? - somebody will be along shortly to add on !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Do you have a big service due around 105k or is that the rrs? If so, you might have a small service around 80k.

That's how it used to be, looking at my service book that's not how mine has been done, it's done on the basis of what the car says it needs, based on the driving. Discovery 4 HSE

It depends on the year/engine.
Basically, for the TD6, or the BMW 4.4 V8, every year or 15k, depending on which comes first...

Oilservice
Inspection 1
Oilservice
Inspection 2
... then back to the start ...
The service sheets are on the wiki, here

I think that TDV8 engines are all cambelt, and the belts are supposed to be changes at 105k (15k service interval), but I'd prefer to get the full service requirements from someone more knowledgable

No belts on a TDV8 - Chains. Not a service item.

You will have to ask the seller or ask to see what the last service completed was.... Idea

in theory:

15,000 - Oil
30,000 - Inspection 1
45,000 - Oil
60,000 - inspection 2
75,000 - Oil
90,000 - Inspection 1
105,000 - Oil
120,000 - inspection 2

But as said it depends on driving style and type of use it has had as the service interval is variable.

Dont forget there will be additional things such as Coolant, brake fluid, diff and trans fluid and transfer box oil. Pretty sure that all the BMW engines and the TDV8 are on timing chains so no belts to worry about. Not sure about the AJV8 ..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
