Rear seat base removal

The children have managed to drop some bits down the gap around where the rear seatbelt sockets go - is there an easy way to lift the rear seat bases to get them out or do I have to start unbolting things (a quick inspection yesterday didn't reveal any obvious levers or buttons) ?

I think when you fold the seats forward, there's some carpeted trim which is held on by black plastic push in clips, I dare say if you remove the clips you might be able to get to the back of the seat base.

Could be worth a try? 2006 Mercedes CLS

I would have thought just folding the seats all the way forward will give you access won't it? Discovery 4 HSE

As above...

Fold the seat back forward then folding the seat base forward will allow access to the crap/crumbs underneath.

Until this weekend i didnt realise the base folded up this way....... it revealed all the crap from previous owners ! Big Cry TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

Oh B*gger - that's far too obvious - sounds like a severe vacuum might be required tonight too then - thanks !

It nearly worked !

As per the very helpful suggestions above, fold the seat backs down and then lift the rear of the base to reveal .... lots of rubbish on the carpet below.

However, the seat belt "sockets" in the seat bases are in their own holder which may require a torch and tweezers to extract small items when the seats are returned to the sitting position !

One you have the bases moving - simply smack them on the back and small items will fall out Wink there is plenty of scope for movement - especially if you move the front seats as far forward as you can.

Or just use the thin hoover nozzle and suck out whatever is in there. if it's a valuable, empty the hoover first so when you retrieve it from the bag it's not caked in all the rubbish. Discovery 4 HSE
