I had to have discs and pads on my RRS so i wouldn't think it was out of the ordinary.
The chap that owned may have a heavy foot.

I don't think the MY11 had Brembo's, I think they have LR own branded so they may not be as good which would lead to quicker replacements.

Pads and discs are cheap enough. I aim for about 2-3 pad sets per disc set but found a set recently so cheap I changed the lot for £120 Smile

The recall was not just for a battery change ! software update and voltage reg unit ( of some sort ) the first also changed the FBH to 15 mins rather than 30. There was / is also a software update for the 8 speed box on certain chassis numbers i am told. Far to many gone...

There was also a recall for the battery lead mine was replaced when I had alarm problems.

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts when you have riven both.
After a FFRR I found the Disco cabin rather cramped and a bit on the cheap side.
It's not really, but the FFRR is so much better it spoils you.

Personally, if I was spending that much money I'd want something that spoiled me.

FFRR soon, fingers crossed!!!!

Hi all,

first of all, thank you everyone for all the advice and support. Amazing what brings people together.

I just put a deposit down on the FFRR.. despite a few quirks it was just incredible. The engine left me speechless. The stealer is now prepping the car under the approved used programme and getting the second service done and I should have her by the end of the month!! Cue sleepless nights until then. Very Happy Very Happy

Two things however raised some concern (and have told dealer I will only take subject to them being looked into). First, both front tyres were much more worn than the back and the outer edges were almost bald and more worn than the central part. Is this usual or a sign of a deeper problem (car has only done 22,000 miles)? Second, there were a number of small bubbles or raised round chips in the bonnet and when I tried to scratch one of them off, it came away but with a little rust in it and seemed to expose the silver body work underneath. Should I ask the dealer to respay the entire bonnet?

Fox - I did drive the FFRR and Disco 4 and you got it.spot on. I made the mistake of driving the FF first so expectations were high. I found the Disco to be much smaller and lower driving position. And although the engine seems good, it just seems to struggle at the initial push off but is fine once you are going. Weirdly (probably to do with my small size) I feel I found the disco seats to be that little more comfortable. But unfortunately I fell in love with the FF at first sight so the disco had no chance.

I'm terms of warranty, they said.it would get checked during the pre-sale inspection but they thought it had all been done and only involved replacing the battery itself and chanfing the bonnet switch. Should I take their word or insist on getting it checked again against all land rover bulletins.

Thanks again everyone!! I hope my dad loves this retirement gift..

If it was me I'd be asking an LR bodyshop to assess it and get a new bonnet on and sprayed as it sounds like water has got under the paint and if they try and repaint it after stripping it could come back if the metal had already started to react in places Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

thanks.

they said they still need to inspect the entire car and prep it for sale to correct any faults so i've got to give them that chance.

would this be something that would otherwise be covered under the paint warranty? otherwise I will buy subject to another dealer/bodyshop giving it the all clear.

If it's rusting from under the paint I'd be asking for it. It would be the cheapest option otherwise they bed to strip all the paint off it, treat all the rust, flat it, prep it and paint it.. A day or two of work to do it right so worth getting an opinion from a good few local good body shops for their professional eyes on opinion Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Don't think I will get a chance to get independents to look at it first as the dealer is prepping from tomorrow and are based in Coventry while I'm in London.

Any thoughts on the issue with the tyres? If it may be due to suspension eBat should I be looking for damage wise?

My tyres were showing wear on the outer edges when I bought mine at 9,000 miles, I mentioned it and they booked the car into a specialist alignment place.

Appears OK now, 20.000 miles, but hard to tell as I am still using the same tyres.
